Any car is fun, but a rear engined, RWD car with very low center of gravity is funner.
Any car is fun, but a rear engined, RWD car with very low center of gravity is funner.
A better driver on a short course with a slow car can beat a worse driver in a faster car on a short course with no trouble at all. Happens all the time in autocross, which I assume this effectively was. I beat Corvettes with my Spitfire on several occasions - Mario Andretti behind the wheel I am better than the old…
So much this. The fossil fuel industry does not want the damage that they do to the planet on a daily basis to be shown, so stuff like this gets published to deflect attention and help keep them profitable a few more years.
For those of you fortunate enough not to know who Michael Shellenberger is, he’s a corporate shill with a background in public relations. He has zero training in any science or environmental subjects, but he is handsomely paid by the nuclear power industry and various conservative think tanks for his “contrarian”…
Even from the little I know about this subject, scientists across the globe have basically in an arms race to try to find the next big innovation in safer and way more efficient battery tech than continuing to rely on lithium. Hell, the journey towards solid state development has kept John B Goodenough alive at a…
I mean im a huge tree hugging liberal. I firmly believe that while EVs are the future of cars, cars are not the future.
We should go back to living like it is 1723, I guess. Oh wait, that would mean deforesting the world to stay warm too.
“I live in alabama and most of our electricity is from coal, natural gas, and gasoline/diesel fuel”
I don’t have an EV, but there’s a cost associated with maintaining the automobile gas infrastructure and transporting physically heavy non-reusable gas. Electric motors are 85+% efficient, consumer gasoline engines are at best 40%. So for you to use your 16 gallons of gas, more energy is burned refining it, moving it…
I love how people say things like “there are still the dirty parts about EV’s no one wants to talk about” when literally every article and comment thread about EVs is chock full of misinformation about how batteries can’t be recycled (they can), or how lithium and rare earth mining is uniquely harmful (it isn’t), or…
$35 for a game like this, that can potentially offer hundreds of hours of playtime, is a fucking bargain.
Counterpoint: These are better as an art piece than an actual vehicle. There is a saying that “old cars become valuable when they become so pretty that you forget how bad they were” - this car is valuable for that reason, but they are still really crappy cars.
Considering Rivian was able to manufacture 25k vehicles in their first year is seriously impressive. The product has been getting great reviews, they have that 100k order from Amazon. Seems like the initial stock price was too high - but they seem like they are on the right track as a company (mostly).
Having sold on there - they’ll argue with you, but at the end of the day, it’s your car - they’ll let you list it for whatever you wish to list it for. They’ll just probably laugh at you from the other end of their computer whilst doing so.
well the state only has authority within its borders, unfortunately.
Yeah Musk Stans will go to crazy lengths to defend him, much like the mentally unhinged Magats.
Coworker gave me a ride home in one when my bike tire popped earlier this week. City streets only, granted the fastest speed was 60 MPH because of the wide roads here. I have a 2006 beater Prius that rides at HALF the wind noise that Model 3 did, which is significantly newer and has a quarter of the miles on the…
Ahh yes, the normal car at a dead stop on the highway routine. If someone cuts you off and then slams on the brakes how are you to avoid that? The first car DID have tons of room in front of them before the Tesla went into their lane and came to a dead stop on a highway.
The driver told police that he had been using Tesla’s new “Full Self-Driving,” and if interested, you can view the redacted accident report here:
The Tesla cut into the left lane and braked suddenly. So while according to the letter of the law, the people rear-ending it were at fault, but realistically the Tesla caused the accident. This is at the entrance to the tunnel, so drivers have to adjust their eyes. Even a safe driver might not be able to stop in time.
