I honestly do not understand what y’all are on about here. I came to own a CVT after a lifetime of manuals and it’s been absolutely fine. It does everything I want it to do and I get decent gas mileage. It does what it’s supposed to do.

Nope. Counterpoint: the CVT in any subaru is just fine. Because it’s a car that can handle basic gravel roads and shit weather, not a dedicated 4wheeler.

If you’ve ever watched videos of these guys, you’d get the feeling that they WANT to be shot- like, they WANT to provoke a cop so bad that he hauls off and punches the shit out of them. What we have here is a classic example of fuck around and find out.

Why is a trip with a kiddo to the beach less essential than you going to the beach? Since when did air travel become “essential travel only?”

First off, if this prevents parents from getting the evil eye from entitled assholes, I’m all for it.

That said, I feel like people forget how much flying sucks and then blame all of that suck on whatever poor kid happens to be stuck on the flight with them.

From what I’ve seen of videos of interactions between “Sovereign Citizens” and cops, the citizens are a special kind of asshole for whom it would take the patience of a saint NOT to at least just punch in the face on general principles. They’re just the worst.

Crossovers are tall hatchbacks. They are economy cars designed to feel premium. They’re popular because sedans are basically a dumb design that doesn’t work with anyone’s life anymore. No one wants a trunk. They want something they can haul a dishwasher in.

I mean, with a top speed of 15 mph, it’s only going to be able to be used on back streets. Because it’s a scooter, it’s not going to be usable on MUTs.

With a top speed of 15, crosswinds aren’t gonna be an issue. And if you want a stripped down, no bodywork scooter, Honda already sells the Ruckus.

Or, you know, we could maybe alter the way we do things. Like, maybe we don’t need to do a 1:1 replacement of every single ICE vehicle with an EV- maybe we need to increase public transit and encourage work from home wherever possible. You know, conserve our resources. Stop building things in such a way that you have

It’s sacred because a number of tribes say it’s sacred. Are you OK with doing mineral extraction at Arlington National Cemetery? That’s public land. Why is it sacred? who gets to determine that? Is it sacred just because we were the most successful at taking it over this year?

It’s BLM owned land NOW. After we kicked the original inhabitants off. That’s the same argument we’ve used forever to go back in and take resources from land we said we would leave alone.

We have done this SO MANY TIMES- Well, sure it’s their land and we had a treaty but, well, we really, really need that oil/uranium/timber/water/land/iron ore, so it’s OK if we just push them off, after all, these savages/poor people/uneducated bumpkins wouldn’t know how to manage this, so we should just do it for

I’m pretty sure that plenty of campers with extremely dubious quality electrical systems have been plugged in to an NEMA 14-50 for weeks at a time in all kinds of shitty weather without killing everyone.

I honestly question whether driving was ever anything other than being stuck in traffic or driving on the freeway or some combination of both.

OOOOOH! You mean I can blame the shredded cartilage in my left knee on shifting? You are my hero sir. “it wasn’t trail running that did it- it was a manual transmission!”

Best automotive decision I ever made was finally ditching the manual transmission and just driving an automatic. Part of this was admitting that I’m at a place in my life where the only thing exciting I want to happen on a drive is inside the car with me- good company, good music, whatever.

It’s also a great way to become a better driver in general. I took my MSF course more than 20 years ago, and I haven’t ridden a motorcycle in nearly a decade, but i still hold onto a LOT of the lessons they taught us- How to continuously scan the road for upcoming trouble, and how taking a corner needs to be informed

Ima guess the “no rules to speak of” would be the biggest stumbling block. It sounds really cool but that’s a great way to start killing drivers in a hurry, no matter how much modern safety you install.

While this is not and will not be available here, there’s a company in Oregon that will convert any transit connect into a pop up camper. I know a guy who had this done to his Element and he says they do excellent work. The price is pretty damned good too, considering.
