There’s definitely a path to this happening, and Pat lays it out pretty cleanly: incentivize MLS (and, ideally, a second division, whether it be USL or an MLS 2, to cover more geography) to discover and develop their own talent as soon as possible.

Sounds like they take the time compression aspect of this season into ludicrous levels this episode.

I don’t yet consider Brooks a lock. He has the highest ceiling but is prone to mental lapses. If he is not in good form for Wolfsburg heading into the Cup I think his spot will be very much up for grabs.

Sargent is the real deal at this age level. I know they are *gasp* MLS players, but do not be surprised if Derrick Jones and, especially, Tyler Adams make moves after this tournament.

How is this a good counterpoint? This was (1) the under-17, not under-20 team; and more importantly (2) produced 4 USMNT mainstays, including arguably the greatest American field player of all time, along with 2-3 other spot starters, an incredible return for an Under-17 team.

Almost truthered this and said it was a double-hit but upon further review it looks clean.

It does help that Kawakami gives the best perks.
