I get that. Idk why it was brought up either. But yeah my question was just about the guy’s actual race, which was apparently questioned.

But who said it booooooothered meeeeeeeeeeee lol. No for real, show me where I said that. As a matter of fact, my whole reason for saying this is that I find it funny how much it bothers a lot of white people when their race is brought up, because as a brown person it happens to me every second of the day and it

I’m not talking about that lol. I was just curious because the guy said the guy wasn’t white. But I mean, he looks white to me lol. I don’t really know the nuances of like who is and is not this or that though. I was wondering if he was going to say something like, he’s Jewish or something. I was genuinely curious.

Did I say it had anything to do with racism? When did I say that and how do yo know I was thinking that? Why do white people always assume that when black people talk about race, we are talking about racism?

It’s the tough guy thing.

I knew a lot of people would bring this up lol.

What would you describe him as?

It’s funny, because in the article they wrote when this guy got confronted by the shirtless guy, there was this guy going all hard like “if some random black guy challenged me like that I would not back down” or something. And I was like, “so if a shirtless white person did it you would be cool, it’s only because he’s

Thank you for acknowledging the correct use of the word and saying it’s the thought that counts to qualify how you are using it. That’s a thing I wish others did.

Oh yeah but cognitive dissonance, as far as I understand it, implies not only the state of having conflicting beliefs, but also a corresponding discomfort resulting from that state, which motivates a desire to reconcile one’s beliefs and achieve some kind of harmony or consistency between them. It was that feeling of

lol we were just having fun with this man, that’s all. Congrats to this guy for making finals. He earned it.

Yeah unfortunately that was one of the disappointments for me too of this past election season. The Sanders vs. Clinton thing is actually the perfect way to conceptualize this. I think you are right to say that there were problems with both camps. My hope us that Trump’s win will motivate both sides to come together

Yeah I mean the ideal world is nice to think about. It can even be a legitimate political force in that it can motivate us to be better and do the work. But it can never substitute for it. And that’s a big problem for us I think. We have to learn that.

Yeah no that I would reject. I simply use the word ideal, what I am here calling (though I don’t usually call) perfection, to describe a kind of implicit vision behind our actions and ideas, not in the sense of an actual thing you expect to see happen. It’s like the Platonic Ideal Form. I think we have something like

Just listened to that speech. Holy fucking shit this guy does not need to be running for Mayor again anyway he needs to be running for the presidency. That speech spoke to me on a deep level. I haven’t heard a speech like that in a minute. I was playing video games and I just had to stop and listen to that shit.

Yeah I agree 100% with you on that. I’m only saying that this is what visions of an ideal society can be used for, like a kind of mountain in the distance that helps us to see what we are supposed to be inching towards. I agree with you that this vision can get in the way of progress as much as it can aide it. I’m

Well that’s why I think, at least for me, there is value in keeping both perspectives. Because there is a value in idealism. Without it, we would just succumb to the complete nihilistic or fatalistic notion that since perfect is impossible, then the status quo is okay, since the imperfect status quo seems just as good

Aha, I must try this.

Are you sure he was complaining about anything?

I love this gif.
