I’m not the only person seeing a hearse here, right?

I agree that the cost is likely because of the experimental stage. I’m pleased to see Gizmodo informing readers of these, btw. So much from Giz seems to be “everything is bad, so ban everything”, so this is a refreshing change.
I think it probably is because it’s the first one, and they’re not mass producing reactors. The 325 megawatt Natrium one is projected to be $4 billion if costs hold, but they need to get those reactor costs down to about $500 million or less if they want to be competitive with solar PV plus storage.
It’s pretty neat that they’re getting to build a fast nuclear reactor, although they’ll really need to get those reactor costs down if they want to commercialize it (the cost per kilowatt of electricity for the proposed TerraPower plant in Wyoming is about seven times that of solar photovoltaic power plus storage).
A shame that video doesn’t let people hear what they sound like.
But it can help you get rid of it.
I’m not here to tell people how to spend their money. But I am here to say some people don’t deserve to have that money in the first place.
Also, why does it have a stripper pole?
Other things you could buy for $6million
This may be the stupidest waste of money on a vehicle I’ve ever seen. Widening it that much actually compromises its utility as an overlander.
Given that the client was clearly one of those whales with a cost-is-no-object vision, my guess is that a big chunk of that went to “misc expenses,” “overhead,” “undifferentiated costs” and such like, which was then spent on a lot of high-end Vegas hookers.
It looks like it’s got a deflated camper top on its roof. Or just a really big tumor.
and yet
I bet it’s one of those things where everything on it was probably built 3 or 4 times to get it right...
Kill it with fire.
What? Is the body made out of 14 caret gold? Where is the “ 6 million” dollars worth of anything? It looked like a big beluga whale on wheels. I’d literally be too embarrassed to be seen driving this thing and even more embarrassed to admit I had spent 6 million dollars on it.
Proof again money cannot buy good taste
yeah 6million ?? I suspect the builders siphoned off a pile of money for some other projects out of that budget
The tiny taillights make this look like a bad photoshop.
