Windows is far from perfect for sure. The forced restarts do suck hard. But I can put the hardware I want into my computer (for the most part). I haven’t gone to Windows 11 yet and and familiar enough with 10 to not want to have to relearn stuff. All that said, Apple is a fucker of a company and I’ll take Windows

This locking down hardware like this is exactly why I ditched Apple and went to Windows about 15 years ago. Apple can suck it.

That was a fantastic read. Thanks for sharing it.

It’s true that there are mosquito species ranging the vastness of the planet, but the species in the article is invasive and a known disease vector. They are by definition non-native to North America and whatever niche they fill in the ecosystem can be and will be filled by some other less awful insect if we manage to

I’m pretty sure the mosquitos being targeted are invasive.

That’s a terrible name for a paint color.

Good luck on getting promoted out of the greys.

I’ve been a passenger on the roads in and around Mumbai and it was the most terrifying experience of my life.

It’s great that something is being done, but I have serious doubts that romaine lettuce is a viable long term substitute for sea grass. I expect a wave of malnutrition caused illness in manatees eating nothing but romaine for very long. It’ll keep some of them from starving for a while but... seems like a bandaid for

Looking at cars for sale on Craiglist seems to indicate that maybe Carvana is responsible at least in part for the insane used car market prices. It seems they own around half of the cars for sale already.

There are small multirotor aircraft that use four variable pitch props and a single electric motor. They’re capable of the most incredible stunt flying I’ve ever seen. This one has been around almost forever now: https://hackaday.com/2013/12/04/a-collective-pitch-quadcopter/

I recall some YouTube videos of a much

It’s pretty common for large agricultural multirotor UAV’s to use a small gas electricity generator to get multi-hour flight times. I fail to see how this is a better solution. Hydraulic systems weigh more than electric systems and don’t provide nearly as fine control. This seems more like an exercise in seeing if

This is a perfect answer to the question “Tell me you’re a giant asshole without saying a word”. Jesus, what an eyesore. Stupid just to show how stupid you can be.

Your bad take completely ignores the absolute rights of people. In this particular case a woman that was sexually assaulted and her DNA which was sampled was ostensibly taken for the purpose of helping her. Your bad take also ignores the very real chilling effect this practice would have on sexual assault victims. So

I wonder how threatening the phone call was? I mean, shutting down the entire import of a substantial crop over one phone call (that my could have been placed by anyone) seems like a huge overreaction. Maybe there are unpublished details of the call that would clarify and justify this decision.

I haven’t been more excited about a science project in a long time. What an awesome device. I’m so looking forward to the first real images and the awesome ones sure to follow. What a time to be alive.

What of them? Recovering from covid unvaccinated once doesn’t offer nearly the protection from subsequent infection of covid. It’s not even close. Unvaccinated dolts that survived covid would benefit themselves and everyone they are physically near by getting vaccinated. But selfishness and idiocy abound.

The fact that it’s stolen bitcoin doesn’t minimize their crimes in my mind. If anything that adds to their legal exposure in my opinion. They are therefor likely thieves in addition to money launderers. Seems worse in my book.

Facing up to 25 years for laundering BILLIONS in a commodity?! People have spent more time in prison for growing weed in their own house.

That made me laugh out loud. Thanks. I actually scrolled up to make sure I hadn’t missed something, but you were right.
