Yeah, I’m surprised people aren’t giving the Netflix stuff more credit. Nearly everyone I know (even people who claim to hate superhero comics) has seen and loved Jessica Jones (possibly because I won’t shut up about how great it is). But I’m really curious what the numbers are like on those netflix shows, because in

Fair enough, point well made. Sometimes I worry that people feel so helpless against the GOP that we end up hurting our own cause.

Wow you seem like a really fun person to argue with, so I’m going to say my piece as briefly and un-nuanced as possible:

For starters, that’s totally fair, and that’s why I apologized for making assumptions at the top of my comment. I was definitely extrapolating from your original statement and hoping to expand the terms of this discussion.

I feel like the phrase “recent leftward shift” pretty much explains it all... Like, glad to see you coming around, Hils, but also [side-eye]

Apologies if I’m making a bad assumption, but does anything about Clinton make her seem like she understands the experience of black americans? Or LGBTQ americans, or really anyone who’s not a wealthy white lady? Privilege is invisible, and it cuts in all directions. Personally I’d much rather watch Bernie stumble

All these metanarratives are making me ill. I think I need to take a break from this election.

Oh man, now there’s a deep cut. I watched that disaster of a film in theaters. Not gonna lie, my friends and I had a blast with how terrible it was... If they haven’t done a Rifftrax of that yet I am going to petition it.

I’m pretty much in agreement here, but I’m curious where Laika Studios fits into this equation. So far their record of Coraline -> Paranorman -> Boxtrolls is stunning, and they seem to be getting better with each movie... Personally I think Boxtrolls was just as good as anything Pixar’s ever done, but that’s just me.

I’m sorry I just read that there’s a tiny chance for more Young Justice and then had a stroke. It’s definitely happening now, right????

Hahahaha woooooooooooow

That was a cool speech! (I never saw this movie)

I loved that storyline (was that from the Grant Morrison JLA run? I haven’t read it in ages), but there’s a huge difference between SECRET plans that you keep around just in case something bad happens and what we’re seeing here... And of course, I should be making a huge disclaimer that I have NO idea what this movie

If you have an alien that is potentially dangerous, yet shows no signs of aggression, why would you choose to openly threaten it? Why shoot missiles at it? Drive a tank into it? If you don’t trust it, fine, don’t trust it... but if you basically declare war on it on behalf of humanity just for existing, then yeah,

We do it for love, and money.

Believe me I understand this concept. “Nuanced” it is not. If you want a much better version of this story you’re describing I recommend Invincible, The Authority... Astro City’s a good one too.

In the real world batman gets shot with armor piercing bullets, provided he actually manages to confront any criminals before falling off a roof to his death. In the real world, aliens probably don’t look like underwear models and women are generally born out of pregnancies, not clay. I’m sorry but I think we simply

That line about how Supes can destroy the world and even if there’s a 1% chance Batfleck has to treat it as a certainty... it’s like Snyderman is trying to troll us. Guess what bats, there is a 1% chance of a lot of horrible things happening, you don’t just go around punching them.
