C&D puts the Grand Cherokee 5.7 performance at a 8.0s to 60 and 16s in the quarter. “

Uh...no it doesn’t.

“Fitted with the 5.7-liter Hemi, the Grand Cherokee has enough power to deliver respectable acceleration. But let’s not confuse respectable—0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds—with thrilling.”

Who said anything about reasons?

Well that clearly went over your head.

I have no idea why people don’t call this out for what it is: blatant corruption. He’s not the only one, sadly, but he’s the one who put himself in the spotlight.

Yeah, one would expect people wouldn’t be so rude as to throw perfectly good tea into a harbor either, but here we are...

You literally have no idea how loud, or not, his exhaust was. You have no idea if it sounded better or not. You weren’t there. You’ve never heard it. You made up something in your head and decided to speak on behalf of everyone else based on that entirely imagined sound. As if we gave you that right...

I am no fan of

Seriously. UPS driver was going about his business in San Diego and a fucking plane crashed into him and a few houses last month. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

That isn’t to say “make stupid financial decisions”, but we’re not looking at the market returning to normal for years at this point. I’m holding off ‘til next

It is like walking from the back country into Times Square.  Not recommended.

Except one is blatantly anti-democratic, pro-authoritarian, and just attempted a coup...but sure, they’re both the same...

Having moved from a very red state to a very blue state, I can say without a shred of doubt the parties are nowhere fucking near the same and anyone peddling that bullshit needs to gain some real

...its a car. Like any other car. It does car things...like take people places they want to go.

These things aren’t exactly that special. They built a ton of them and there are plenty of $60k+ cars that get parked in airport lots.

Yeah, and a lot of these shows normalize the absolutely ridiculous price tags of bolt-in parts. I remember watching one of the Week-to-Wicked shows going, “$4k rear end, $5k suspension, $3k transmission, $6k crate motor, etc, etc, etc”. And that’s an inexpensive build compared to some of these shows. At least that one

Challengers are pretty damned expensive in this market. A base R/T is $36k.

Do all cars weigh 3600-3800 lbs? Pretty sure they don’t...so why are you normalizing power to a 3600-3800 lb vehicle?

HP is HP. Its work per unit time. It is just as useful in an 80,000 lb semi as it is in a 500 lb motorcycle. The usefulness of the power does not change. What you’re (poorly) trying to get at is power

You do realize that twice a month is literally half of people’s available free time (weekends), right? That’s a hell of a lot of use*.

Seriously, this is just childish, arrogant, and very self centered. You can’t see beyond your own nose.

*Edit: just checked - renting a full size truck for a weekend (Friday afternoon

Geezus, you need get some perspective. I live in fucking SoCal and know people who do, in fact, tow with their trucks regularly, including long distances over mountain ranges (this really isn’t that hard to find around here). Oh, and the destination isn’t a fancy hotel with a fast charger - its camping in some sand

Not every collectible is rare. Look at the prices for 68-70 Dodge Chargers. More than 200,000 of the things were built, but you’re going to pay out the nose for even a rusted out 318 automatic car. Same for 69 Camaros - more than 200k built.

Hell for a modern example of exactly what he’s talking about, have you looked

There is also the standard problem of comparing the limits of today with the limits of the future. Someone in 1989 might say “there is no way anyone in the future will be able to repair the digital dashboard of a LeBaron” and yet that’s easy right now.”

Yeah, a whole lot of people here aren’t getting that - or weren’t

...that is literally the point of the ethanol stabilizer. Good ones have corrosion and phase separation inhibitors.

No idea what you think that anecdote proves...but nothing you said contradicts what I said. So I have no idea what you’re calling bull on. It may not be all-inclusive, but I never claimed it to be.

A lot of older fuel systems aren’t compatible with ethanol. Rubber lines and gaskets weren’t designed for it and will dry out and crack more frequently. Cars that sit for extended periods have to worry about the lower shelf life of E10 fuels, water retention, phase separation, and varnish and sludge gumming up things
