At long last I understand why people put The Atlantic on their coffee tables when they want to look smart but not interesting.

Yeah, but there’s a hell of a lot more people running Baja than there will be in Extreme E
psst... nobody works here anymore, everyone has been leaving like rats from a sinking ship since the deadspinning.
One particular point of rage among those who detest these cars ? an issue that divides even their fans ? is a tweak called a straight pipe. These tailpipes, after an adjustment to a car’s computer, make exhaust sound like gunfire, expelling a buildup of air with a rapid-fire pow-pow-pow
Yeah it’s nowhere near as fancy. There are some great pork ramen brands out there, but I’m more confused as to why you can get every other flavor of maruchan at pretty much any store in the world except the pork flavor.
It’ll be an interesting question, but they’re running rally raid style for the most part similar to Dakar and Baja, and there are often miles between competitors in those races, so I wouldn’t expect any more than usual. Those trucks and bikes and so on are loud, but the distance spread is enough that things aren’t…
Tough to beat actual (bogus, stunt) criminal charges, but those are some good ones to be sure. I’d forgotten about the Kendall Jenner one.
I genuinely cannot remember any other ad campaign that has blown up in the face of the promoters so spectacularly. It’ll be taught in advertising classes for years to come.
If we’re doing the instant ramen discussion thing, can anyone explain to me why it’s so difficult to find Maruchan Pork flavor even in normal times and why Top Ramen doesn’t even seem to make a pork flavor? It’s easily the best ramen flavor and the only place I can find it locally is at the Walmart so I have to stock…
I’m pretty sure he owned a 488, and if he meant an espresso machine I question whether you’ve ever actually seen an espresso machine.
That’s pretty close to NLS/VLN or maybe Super Taikyu.
In the article I linked he does talk about getting advice from Toto on how to run a team and they seem to get on very well, and Toto and his wife both own (and until recently his wife ran) a Formula E team iirc, so it would not be a surprise at all if Hamilton were to get in to FE through that route as a stakeholder…
The V60 and V90 are fabulous cars, if they do one of those as an electric that’d be a great runabout (although please do the normal and the cross country version, not just cross country because I want my electric V90R).
I’m not sure he’s into Formula E, he’s doing Extreme E more as a way to get into running his own team. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t try doing some guest drives at some famous races in series he’s a fan of but frankly I’m not sure what kind of series he’s actually interested in. The rumor is that he gave Bottas…
The-Race had a long article yesterday speculating on Hamilton’s post-F1 career (since he’s going to tie Schumacher this year and become the winningest driver of all time and hasn’t signed for next year yet, although he’s almost absolutely without a doubt sticking around). The only really interesting part of it was…
This is exactly right. Racing’s greatest era of popularity and mass appeal was the era when you could go buy a small, relatively inexpensive car, fit it and yourself with some safety equipment and pay your entry fee to head out to the track. Literally the origin of the word sports car. This is why people do autocross…
Well, sort of, the Merc engine was superior to the Honda engine but the Brawn aero stuff was also absolutely important too because other teams were using Merc engines too as I recall. Was McLaren still doing using them at the time? I forget.
lmao dude has never ‘ask[ed] for documents to review’ in his fucking life.
How did the battery last long enough without being driven for that to happen, was it just plugged in the entire time?
TBH I don’t think FE is trying to be the pinnacle of motorsport, it’s more that nobody gets into making cars because they want to build boring boxes that just do basic car things, so racing is as much about company morale as it is about building brand recognition and loyalty.
