After the near certain death of the ABK merger and public discussion of how disappointed Microsoft is in the Xbox division, Redfall absolutely feels like it could be Microsofts ET moment.

If they did it would be for spite, not for business sense. Either MS overspends and doesn’t get the value out of it, pissing off their shareholders or ActiBlizz doesn’t get enough, tanks sales of CoD by not offering on PlayStation and pisses of their shareholders. Both options open the respective companies up to

Nearly all the AAA games were announced for the PS5 became Xbox exclusive.

But the worlds largest cloud infrastructure company DID start a game streaming service and it sucks. Google did it too, and it also sucked. The difference between Luna, Stadia, and Xbox Cloud is absolutely the strength of the catalog and the quality of the service. Google and Amazon are both more than capable of

I dunno, there’s a lot of people with no intent to scalp this, looking at it and thinking, “Shit, $300?” Especially when you can just saunter over to PlayAsia and get the same thing without an ESRB logo on it.

How are you not going to mention the English Asia release? It’s region free and they’re not gonna stop printing them: https://www.play-asia.com/final-fantasy-i-vi-pixel-remaster-collection-multi-language/13/70g0qp

Is this song going to actually be in the game or will TotK be another barren audioscape like BotW?

There are a mountain of options, they just aren’t called Final Fantasy.

Holding the medium back?  Games account for more revenue than movies and music combined, globally.

The one repeating piece of criticism I keep seeing leveled at it that will probably stick for me (paper thin story? in MY mario movie???) is all the obvious appeals to the parents (and merchandising) with the soundtrack that is just so god damn played out.

I mean, I’ll be nostalgic for my time I spent at E3. Being in the room for this moment was pretty special.

I think that’s why the deal should go through. No one has any power over Kotick right now and giving him a shitload of money to go away is a net positive for every single person working at ActiBlizz.

PC... with an optical media drive?  What is this, 2010?

She’s referring to the Japanese market with her “98% of the high-end game market” statistic, one very carefully selected (by the USA’s own FTC last year)

I mean, there’s still all that horrific shit of him sliding into underage girls DMs and telling them they’re hot jailbait.

Why would Sony be taking the billion dollar loss? Those sales shift from Activision to MS, not from Sony to MS. If Sony sells CoD on their platform as an MS published game they still get (presumably) the same cut they did when Activision owns it.

Hurting the competition is the absolute point of capitalism. That’s not what antitrust law is trying to prevent.

Getting to? It’s been confirmed that Sony has an exclusion clause in the contract with SE that FF7R can’t show up on an Xbox.

It will likely make a very real and very substantial impact for the people who work for ActiBlizz if the deal goes through and they’re freed from the absolute shithole of current management. I’m rooting for them.

Eh, I dunno.  They really haven’t said anything about it, we all just keep asking about it.  I don’t know that there’s much in the way of expectations.
