Cmon, really? They just didn't do all that stuff you asked because it'd be a herculean feat to just let every player at every level and every equipment state start there and have anything even remotely reflecting a balanced experience for everyone.

4 is my favorite game in the series, and it’s got a lot going for it as an entry point. It’s classic turn based, it’s not difficult at all, it doesn’t overwhelm the player with characters and party options, and maybe most importantly it doesn’t overstay its welcome.
