Jay notes something i’ve observed for a long time - and should be a deeper dive topic:
Why do Volkswagens or Jettas have a burned out taillight. This is as prominent an epidemic as the Toyota dent.
A few of these stealthy aircraft can be marveled at Air Force Museum outside Wright Patterson AFB. Be sure to clear a full day or two to soak in all 4 hangers.
As always. The VW of America group on FB knows where to find more information on SE beetles:
Exactly
👍This is how I am about the 68-76 VW bus model years.
Based on Doug’s Murano Cabriolet review I’d suspect that its price tag contributed to its poor sale numbers.
just $6100

I think you captured the problem with alternatives when you said: “Still, the problem remains that with land-based radars alone there is much less early warning as opposed to having a surveillance radar aloft.” Even air based sensors lack the 360° 24/7 coverage an aerostat brings.
I’m still waiting for a cabover van to be reborn. There is no comparison to the feeling of being behind the wheel of my 72 VW Bus.
The official concept designs have all lacked cab over styling as shown by the artistic rendering shown here. Anything less would look like a bloated minivan.
