Living in a hermetically sealed tower and only ever going outside to golf once a week?

Plus dumb stuff like this - a group of Canadian volunteers from a church group who were planning on cleaning up trash in low-income neighbourhoods were refused entry into the country, despite having a host organization, and doing this sort of thing before, because their volunteer work would “steal American jobs.”

I thought so, too. I remember when I was in the guides in the 80s, they switched to a new uniform designed by a Canadian fashion designer, which was considerably more expensive than the previous option. My mom was a guide leader, and was pissed. We lived in an economically depressed area, and she knew that the at that

I’m admittedly biased. I had some ridiculously bad experiences in the Girl Guides growing up, and was a tomboy who desperately wanted to be in the Scouts instead. I have several friends who are Guide leaders now, and I’m sure it’s great, but the ridiculous politics I dealt with in the Guide movement growing up soured

You’re right, and I suspect that it means that, if he wasn’t employing his bizarro anti-aging orange-makeup and squirrel-on-head techniques, he would actually probably look younger. The women on my father’s side of the family have good skin and don’t go grey (it’s bizarre, but true). But they do all of these weird

I saw a news story last week about a Canadian citizen - born here - whose parents are from India. She has tried to travel to the US twice since Trump was elected and was turned away both times because of made-up issues about her needing a visa because she’s an immigrant, which she is not. She’d already booked a group

This is no doubt because, beyond the actual ban, there have been a bunch of news reports about non-white Canadians - not naturalized immigrants, but born citizens - being turned away at the border being falsely told they need a special visa to enter the US because they are an immigrant. So it’s not even a case where

Funny funny. Except in my experience the “boy scouts” in Canada - or the group formerly known as the boy scouts - are actually way more progressive than the Girl Guides. They’re now just called “Scouts Canada” because they’ve been completely co-ed for almost 20 years now, and this is one of their bylaws:

I have friends with a greyhound and their entire house is just a series of giant dog beds, and the dog seemingly only stays awake for maximum five minutes at a time save one 15 minute walk per day.

So many small breeds were bred for hunting or, worse, for protection and, yeah not low-energy or chill. Lots of little dogs are terrible barkers, too. Greyhounds are suprisingly good apartment dogs assuming you are on the ground floor since they’re super lazy, but notoriously bad at dealing with stairs.

No. Generally if you want a chill dog, you don’t want any dog bred to hunt. There are exceptions, but dachshunds tend to be very aggressive dogs, which is the opposite of chill.

We had a Jack Russell who lived to be 19. He was juuuuust like this crazy agility dog until he was 16, when he finally developed the ability to sit still. We once brought him to an all-day softball tournament and he went from person to person to person getting them to play fetch until he wore out everyone there. We

It’s funny because now, after about 15 years of wearing my hear curly and having my mom admiringly compliment it, it finally dawned on me that I’m pretty sure she actually also has curly hair. Like she’s simultaneously jealous of my hair, while hers would be pretty much the same if she was willing to stop man-handling

Precisely. The constitution says the president can be impeached and removed from office if they are convicted of treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Which essentially means they have to be proven to have committed a felony, or an intentional and significant abuse of the powers of their office.

I read that as him trying to release a kind, yet honest, statement after her death. Like I went to a relative’s funeral last year. He was a deadbeat alcoholic and drug addict who was horribly abusive to his wife for many years. And there were multiple eulogies about how he was “the best of us” and never did anything

Man, that’s rough! The long curly hair without conditioner meant I had some harrowing hair-brushing sessions, too.

Growing up, my mother’s preferred haircare tactics were so brutal, that I didn’t even realize I had curly hair until I was a teenager in charge of my own grooming, and discovered the joys of conditioner, and not using boar bristle hairbrushes. And suddenly - curly hair, just as I’d had as a baby, when gentle baby

I’m guessing when someone like Kim Kardashian claims to be a size two, what it means is that when she has her clothes tailored, the smallest part (probably her waist) is tailored down to the equivalent of a size 2 in a brand with generous vanity sizing. I mean, she’s small, but I was a tiny kid and I could wear a

For sure, so many things can impact the way kids react to/experience their siblings, including age difference, the environment they grow up in (urban vs. rural), parental involvement, and just intrinsic personality.

I wasn’t an only child, but I quickly learned to amuse myself anyway because we lived in the country and my only sibling was too horrible a person to be a reliable playmate. I’m actually really glad I was able to develop the ability to be alone, and entertain myself. I have cousins with 5 kids in the family and they
