Seth Meyers did a bit last night where he talked about the fact that one small consolation is that, as horrible as the shit Trump has said is, he has held literally every possible policy position on every issue, and he could switch back to reasonable ones.

Apparently that’s what a bunch of evangelicals have been praying for, and how they justified voting for obvious heathen Trump: they think it’s God’s plan to “remove” the barrier to truly godly leader Pence’s ascension to the presidency. Which is to say, they are praying for Trump to die.

Pence is worse in his entrenchment in the most regressive possible policy positions (vs. Trump who does not actually have any positions and therefore might be able to be convinced to not do stupid things if he sees public opinion leaning the other way). But Trump is worse in how completely unpredictable and reckless…

As someone who has done accounts payable for a sketchy boutique owner in the past, I read that as Nasty Gal being 3 weeks late with payment and insisting the company wait another 4 to 6 weeks. Because most vendors do not contact a company about payment until it is due/late. I thought that was just implied here.

Honestly, when I saw he won, bolstered by a severely misguided working class, the first thing to come to mind was those fairy tales where people are granted a wish by a genie or wizard or whatever, with terrible results because they failed to think their wish through or word it specifically enough.

You can’t pardon someone who has neither committed a crime, nor been convicted of committing a crime. All you can do is talk calmly and slowly to the incoming despot and hopefully convince him to not throw his political rivals in jail because he wants to impress Alex Jones.
