When public transportation takes 2-3 times as long outside of metro areas, it's a no brainer to drive.

This exactly. As the population grows people need to live somewhere affordable, if the main source of jobs are based in/near big cities than people have no choice than to commute longer distances.

yep. people didn’t move away from cities because we built roads. they moved away from cities because of perceived crime and expensive housing

Not that great to drive!? Says who? Jeremy Clarkson loved it. As did Jason Cammisa. Jason said it was the perfect drive.

I understand your point, but this is a small operation, so it’s probably way more profitable to do a very limited run for an absurd price than to try and make it a bit cheaper so they can build more of them, effectively ruining part of its appeal for high-end customers. if they keep their production numbers low they

Or the Blackwing is a version on the C8 DOHC mill that has been under development for years. Maybe the Cadillac Blackwing was a trial run of the platform and GM really doesnt care if it goes on elsewhere since the root of the platform will continue in the C8 and who knows what else.

As long as it has a manual, it will be cool. It almost certainly won’t.

They’re planning on building 25 of them. The millionaires that buy them, if they ever go on sale, won’t be looking for a cheap donor car. They’ll either drop thousands upon thousands of dollars in maintenance or hide them away in some climate controlled garage. And some of them will probably end up abandoned on the

Cadillac reminds me of Mush from Goodfellas. Everything it touches turns to shit.

Ehhhh, I tend to trust Consumer Reports rather than some guy on the internet (no offense) when it comes to judging the reliability of vehicles. CR’s reviews may prioritize different things than the typical Jalopnik reader does, but at least when it comes to reliability they are using real data aggregated from many

Speed, maybe the remaining range, and then the info about what song is playing, or what playlist I’m on.

GM Designers:

If GM management could actually find anyone as sensible and knowledgeable as you in their product development ranks I’m sure they’d be fired within the week.

The Bolt has an MSRP of like 40k.

It probably will also not be able to tow a 30,000lbs fifth wheel.

You know what I don’t need? Screens that stretch from pillar to pillar. There are a limited number of things I need to know while I’m driving. Speed, maybe the remaining range, and then the info about what song is playing, or what playlist I’m on.

a five foot bed? Can I fit a full sheet of plywood in a five foot bed?

It seems like GM is taking a wide approach to EV’s which should help normalize them. The big problem is that they appear to be going upmarket with most of them, so if you can’t get the Chevy models for a comparable price to an ICE vehicle, no one is going to buy them.

Nice to see that VW is finally almost caught up to my Buick’s 250hp, 295 lb-ft on their own 2.0T power. And I’m glad they kept the plaid seats and the manual trans. But the nose looks odd, and the swapping to touchscreen controls from tactile buttons and dials is a big step backward IMHO. I can’t imagine how much that

Five fog lights? Check your Manifold Danger, folks. Shit’s about to get Fast and Furious with the Mk. VIII GTI.
