I work at an amusement park, and I hate hearing people complain about crowds on days they should expect to be busy. (hot weekends, and the damn 4th of July)
If you went during a busy time of year then expect to wait in lines. If you go in during 3rd or 4th weeks of January for example, crowds aren't a problem.
Its because Orlando offers nothing to bolster itself other that tourism and service industry. There is literally no other reason for Orlando to exist as a metro area.
Disney's customer service and training is legendary, especially for people with additional requirements (like disabilities or food allergies). If you go to another park, you can tell the employees that are former Disney people and the ones that aren't just by their manner.
I actually worked at Disney for 10 years. it was an amazing place to work. I wasn't trying to support a family on it, though, so maybe if I was I would feel differently. I dunno. But seriously, I cannot say enough about what an amzing experience I had there & wish I would have stayed & just moved up within the Disney…
