The statement is odd though. How were their voices silenced? What answers do they want that are relevant but not readily apparent? Maybe it's just poor wording from a group of students, but the statement seems disconnected from the sequence of events. Do they still think he's a pedophile?

In a rational world, about an hour. 5 minutes to sit down and ask "who are these kids in these pictures?" and another 45 minutes for someone (a cop or detective or whatever) to go to the guy's home and radio back "Youbetcha, those are his kids alright".
