I can totally agree with you on that point! A lot of them are very clever and I can certainly appreciate how much thought has gone into the design. They’re also great fun to play with.
I’m otherwise just a big fan of the “keep it simple, stupid” design philosophy, which makes me cringe a little when I think of using a

I honestly think that the cupholders like in that Genesis look the opposite of cheap. It’s the flimsy fold-out ones like in the article that, to me, always look incredibly tacky.

Reliability? Longevity? Practicality? Off-road ability? Comfort?

I’m not saying they had no weaknesses, but they were a very good all-round package and a great daily vehicle.

Nope, that’s definitely a ZJ. Look at how the hood line rises above the side mirror. That’s a dead giveaway. :)

Hah, ZJs were good cars by pretty much any standard.

Try it whilst driving the car - that’s even more fun!

Yeah, our Grand Cherokee is now 22 years old and the moonroof *touchwood* still doesn’t leak.

Hi Doug, long time fan here.

My parents also lived in Cornwall and said they’d heard the sonic boom. Unfortunately I never heard it when I grew up there.

The guy (“Left Lane is for Passing”) that initially disagreed with you clearly has no understanding of the true meaning of those viscosity numbers or the temperatures to which they refer.

David, I wonder if an article explaining this to those that don’t know could be useful.

In the mean time, this is an excellent guide:

You’re right, I’d also say there isn’t a coupe in that picture either! It’s just a 2-door SUV.
Next thing I’ll hear that a 2-door hard top Wrangler or Defender is a coupe!

Manufacturers really need to stop trying to change the meanings of words.

I don’t see a coupe in either of those pictures - am I missing something?

I’m not quite sure why we’re acting like this is a new thing.
I love the one on my Grand Wagoneer, but even that was far, far from the first.

I saw one of these on my travels to see family over Christmas, in full camouflage.
It was broken down on the shoulder! It was on the M5 motorway and was being loaded onto a flatbed as I drove past.

Just for your appreciation David, I was in my ‘98 Jeep XJ.

I’ve noticed that before - MK4 Golfs have it too.

Yes!! I knew there was a reason I liked this so much. It would look great next to my ‘91 Grand Wagoneer, and would somewhat offset the cost off running that gas hog.

I did this exact trip a month back in a 4.7 V8 WJ Grand Cherokee. I know it’s obvious and boring to you guys, but it was damn good for the task.

I went to see Endeavour recently, and that Tundra that towed it there is still in the parking lot outside!
