To each their own. I grew up loving the Miata. It makes me smile, looking at it or driving it. I'm obviously a bit biased. It's a reminder of when Japan was in its golden age. I like the Solstice but wish they hadn't have given it that corporate grill. I like the Saturn Sky just a little more because of that.

That's terrible. Our dealer drools at the sight of my wallet but they do get the work done. I've actually had to argue with them before that the car didn't need an alignment.

Only a 2007, so not that old, but not a Jetta, a MkV Rabbit. I have heard of far worse trouble with the Jetta though. Mine at least has the 2.5 liter 5 cylinder. It isn't exactly efficient but I think they've had fewer troubles than the 1.8T. My only gripes with it are that the boots on the CV joints don't last long

If you drive something quirky or rare, carrying spare parts specific to your car is necessary for quick repairs.

Check the torque on your spark plugs if they've been changed (specifically with the Cooper S). A friend with a Cooper S recently had one eject itself from the head causing total loss of the thread. Other than that, make sure the tires are topped off and the engine has enough oil, and change it if necessary. Maybe have

Florida is easy. Don't even try anything around a trooper, ever, and stay within 10 of the limit. In most cases you should be fine. I got pulled over by a sheriff the other day, was completely honest and respectful towards him, and he let me go with a warning. I was only going 8 over so that probably helped.

That had to be pretty rough on both you and your family. I know a lot of people tend to make jokes in the comments (my self included) but legal trouble is serious business. One of my family members nearly got a DUI the year before last after being pulled over for doing 8 mph over the limit. Didn't do great on the

Could'a had a Monster Miata. Granted, this is probably safer on the street, but then there would only be one car on course at a time for most race situations that most people would be in, like autocross. Plus the Miata would be lighter and would no doubt have more suspension options. So it seems the Solstice didn't

This misconception actually works for me, even if I disagree with it (drive one and it kind of beats you up if the shocks aren't fresh and new, but in a fun way). It made it cheap to buy. And when you actually own one you find that there's not that much of a stigma in the real world. I've had way waaaaay more people

This would probably be less comfortable as a daily driver, but still I usually love the looks of the GT3 RS, great paint schemes, great sound. Who am I kidding? GT3 RS all the way, and that's coming from someone who grew up as a Corvette enthusiast.

I always thought Matchbox messed up the proportions in a lot of cases compared to Hotwheels. That alone pushed me away from them. But then again, HW aren't perfect either. They often seem to have uneven paint jobs where things like stripes won't be centered. But I'll take that over messed up proportions any day.

I guess my little brother and I are still teenagers at heart. I bought an NA last year and he bought a Wrangler. And while I don't have a MkIV Golf, I do daily drive a MkV Rabbit.

I thought the "bigger, heavier" idea was flawed. I'm not saying get them a Miata but a mid size or compact would do fine. Better, in fact, because you're less likely to hit something if you can tell where the vehicle ends. Putting them in something huge is, to me, a recipe for making more timid drivers which I see as

"Personally, I'm partial to the F430 proportions over the 458"

Yikes. I hope they put a cage in with that much power.

Yeah, with something new it would be easier to just go with a whole new engine management system. It's a shame the bug was lost.

That sounds like a blast. Scary, but fun I bet.

That bug was a hoot with the VR6 swap and stock suspension. The front end would lift off the ground when you accelerated.

Sure, the system adds a bit of weight, but while you can't have a drink on the road in the winter or during long trips, heated seats are always there to make you feel better.

My backside in the driver's seat.
