I cant star this enough. I have now owned two cars with that generation 3800, and have had to replace the plenum on both. Another annoying feature of these engines are the plastic coolant elbows located on the lower intake manifold, and the water pump. These little fuckers can and will break inside their sockets. And

Newsflash: Too much of anything is bad for you, that's why they call it too much.

Good lord.. Why not just change change the name to “Bare-Skins” already. At least maybe then the O-Line can find some protection.

For me, the beauty lies in the simplicity of its design. Its clean. There’s no glaring design “elements” that try to get your attention by punching you in the face. Sure some can see it as bland, but overall the design of the car just works.

That 6.0L BMW puts out such a wonderful sound. Just listen to it at full throttle.. Perfect.

If you really want to get it down, try rFactor’s HistorX mod with the Grinding Tranny plugin, or another more “sim-oriented” platform on the PC. To be honest, I actually learned this way using rFactor since I started well before I had my license, and it absolutely worked. With a platform that forces you to learn the

Absolutely agree about Toyota. Most of these on the list were due to the governing body not looking for them. Toyota’s concept was so brilliant, the FIA specifically looked for it with their turbo testing methods, and it still passed inspections. Genius.

Hey McLaren! This is a long tail:

Completely agree. Here’s a “tuned” version as well.

Look harder. The formation is identical to the drawing laid out by the band director, and does depict the Enterprise. Although, I would love to see a band with the balls to pull that off.

Yes, but when the hell do we get Direct Exhaust Injection?? Turbos are way too complicated.

That argument is absurd, as the risk for a piece of debris deflecting into the stands already exists with the current car configurations. The canopy wouldn’t really change anything in that regard.

Forget comments like that. I for one actually want to read and understand how these economic issues are going to affect my industry.

I know exactly how they work. But that system is completely irrelevant when a car has come to rest on its roof. Unless of course you are simply referring to the release mechanism of the dome, in which case that may be a possibility.

Looks good, but the AI are nothing short of useless. Most frustrating racing game i’ve seen in a while.

Well it has indeed happened. This is Simona De Silvestro’s crash at Indy in 2011.

I completely agree. In fact, that is the approach i have been mostly advocating for. One suggestion for material is the Lexan compound used by NASCAR. It is extremely durable and relatively cheap to manufacture. Regarding the overall safety, the glaring issue from this approach is in the event of a Dan Wheldon or

Lmp1’s have larger, “two seater”, cockpits with doors allowing access to the driver from the side. An open wheel canopy would likely be similar to a fighter jet style capsule. Which still presents problems that need to be solved.

Exactly. I simply answered OP’s question regarding the reasons why canopies could be problematic. Solutions will be created, just a matter of time.
