Same here, although still not certain how viable AMC's is long-term, but I've been able to see everything I want to see and reserve seats online (no e-ticketing with MoviePass in my area), so it's been a better experience for me even with the 3 movies a week restriction

As you stated, the person saying that is not a person that originated from down there, and I think it’s the thesis statement of the film, rather than an actual origin of the story.
