Couldn’t agree with you more. Straws may be symbolic, but it’s surprised me how many friends/acquaintances I’ve come across that have latched onto it. The more we think about the consequences of packaging and “disposable” plastic, the better off we’ll be.

I was so excited about this but the Kennedy announcement was a gut punch. Also, I saw someone mention this on twitter about how differently women candidates are reported on. In so many headlines, they failed to even mention her name. And once I read that, it was impossible to not notice.

I default to queer, open-minded, or just plain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ because I get tired of the semantics game. I understand labels are important because it means visibility, but on a day to day level, it’s no one’s business who I’m into or who is into me.
Really well-stated. I have three daughters. I don’t want them on a pedestal by a future partner (or current one with my older daughter) but want them to be seen as an equal - worthy of respect, not worship. I have been married more than a quarter century and I love my wife but she’s my partner, not my prize.
