it’ll be damn tricky to hobble this union and only this union without setting a precedent to damn near kill the rest of them off.

Completely agree the police unions are maybe the biggest part of the problem (could be third behind economic inequality and racism). But the hard part, if you’re pro-union is, how do you hobble police unions without setting a precedent that puts other unions at risk, particularly public sector unions?

Counterpoint: Republicans have been calling Democrats every name under the sun, yelling death panels this and forced abortions that. If you’re ceding the intensity of language, then you’re conceding the electorate are predisposed to lean towards Trump and need to be fooled or coddled.

No. Break THIS union.

This comment took an interesting left turn. From “Be wary of white women falsely accusing black men of crimes” to “Let’s not investigate a white woman accusing a white man of something that he has already been known due to do and of something for which she has some corroborating evidence even though a failure to

I’m 100% going to vote for him because Trump is basically Nero fiddling while Rome burns to the ground, but my word, I find this man’s personality like nails on a chalk board. I couldn’t even get through the video. He’s constantly coming off as this out of touch old man barking at people in a grating or condescending

Who is even thinking about Bernie or Warren as a nominee at this point? I’m well aware that he’s going to be the nominee, and it’s strange that literally any observation of Biden being less-than-perfect turns into someone in the comments accusing me or Jezebel at large of being deluded about the reality we find

Sure, the rules might have been different as they were perceived by powerful white men. But the women being assaulted by those powerful men were being assaulted all the same, and the white men in power not knowing the difference does not make it less wrong.

If the same women had all the corresponding evidence going back to the mid 90s the answer is obviously yes.

Anyone who thinks progressives are “selling out” by working with Joe Biden is probably never going to accomplish anything political, ever.

Basically, (with the caveats of a large and disparate sample size), that income distribution contributes to economic growth. Pushing the income share of the top 10% too far can cause GDP growth to decline.

No young pup, Im an adult. I am far from a corporations mindset. I am not conservative and I am not a liberal. I am somewhere in the middle, I do not have representation in this current political climate.

Holy fuck, I knew corporations are people, but this one is commenting on the internet. AND BOUGHT ITSELF A COUCH!

Yep. There’s a stimulus every month when food stamps hit. That’s why you’d never see a grocery store owner say a damn thing bad about EBT users.

“Yes, sure, it will definitely be spent on stupid stuff”

Moscow Mitch is going to curbstomp this into oblivion, but the fact that it’s even being presented is a huge deal. The Overton Window is moving, slowly, but it’s moving.

It was a one time thing. The GOP is terrified that if this palliative socialism becomes a routine, people might start to like it...

She won’t be. If she ends up being the VP nom then she’ll pretty much guarantee a second Trump term. She’ll energize the right in a way that having pasty old man Biden as nom has calmed, and she turns off the left more than having pasty old man Biden as the nom has done. We need a genuine progressive with genuine

On Fresh Air yesterday Tom Colicchio had a bunch of great ideas for how restaurants and their workers could be helping during the crisis - and he said something I’ve been saying for years. Government is here to protect us - that’s why we pay taxes.
