One point that isn't totally clear in the article is that people need to already be on 4.3.3 before trying to jb it with redsn0w. I've run across many who get confused and think they can use redsn0w to update and jailbreak at once a la Pwnage Tool.

But isn't Photosynth's thing that it makes a kind of 3D panorama? I love Autostitch (and for straight panoramas I still prefer it), but my few run-throughs with Photosynth definitely had a different feel—mostly a much more noticeable feeling of depth, like you were walking around in the image.

Two different things. JB depends on the firmware, unlock on the baseband—they don't necessarily move together. See this chart for answers and guides.
