“casting aspersions on someone else for excusing criminal behavior”
Some of those that work forces…
I talked briefly to a FA after seeing an unruly ex-passenger frog marched through an airport. He told me that disturbances on flights are becoming common. It was his opinion that things haven’t been good for people’s mental health for 2 years now and when packed into a small tube for a couple hours, things go sideways.
He didn’t spend 6 years in evil medical school to suffer these insults.
You’re talking about a company that tried to fix a defective part that was causing accidents by...changing the part number, then trying to pin all the lawsuits on the old bankrupt version of itself.
Does it matter? A good percentage of people will not move close enough to walk to work. Cue a ton of excuses. Cue cries of privilege. Cue cries of hate for city life. Cue of no tax payer support to fund this.
Don’t insult Dr Evil.
Don't forget about Mercedes Streeter and her fleet of Jalops!
Was thinking the same... this wrong-take is like ammo for a Conservative trying to paint the Left as a lawless horde of whack-jobs.
I think it’s fair to say that overboard takes are ruining both sides right now.
I had an employee 15 years ago who’d ask me to keep her under 30 hours because if she worked more than that, the state started taking away money they were giving her for her kids.
There is a HUGE disconnect in this article. Its not ok to steal things. I used to work in retail and on occasion we would catch people stealing. Whenever something gets stolen SOMEONE has to pay for it and in the end that price is paid by the rest of us. I say this as someone who used to be poor. Like REALLY really…
You see, Erin, the sort of anger you’ve sparked in your readership is exactly what the Times was trying to avoid when they let you go. This article could’ve had 2 sentences removed or reworded, it would’ve conveyed the same story, and no one would’ve been upset. You need to consider how much you’re writing your own…
I think I’ve figured out one reason why no one wants these jobs. See, most benefits - food stamps, SSI, Medicaid, HUD, HEAP, etc. - have income limits. Back when most places were still only paying $8-$10 an hour, you could still get your healthcare, child care, home utilities, food, etc. free or heavily subsidized.…
Yeah, way to give the lunatic fringe that are hard-right gun supporters more, ah, ammunition.
So... we’re trying to normalize criminals now? This is immature and you need to rethink this take.
Embarrassing transition and conclusion to this article. I say this as a pinko commie with very, very lefty politics, particularly when it comes to inequality and taxation. This makes the rest of us on the left look silly.
“Now, every outlet is calling these folks thieves, and sure, that’s technically correct.”
I should’ve stopped reading the first time Erin offered excuses for criminal behavior. But I kept reading and found more of it.
This weird apologist take is just bad. These people are thieves, stealing things from OTHER people who legitimately bought something despite the poor economy. This isn’t a stick-it-to-bezos thing. This is impacting folks like you and me who work to pay their bills, then get their hard-earned shit stolen by someone who…
