Yes, but donating to the campaigns of people who are no longer running for office would be an odd choice.

It already is BaT-lite.  Yes, there’s more “lower” end stuff than BaT currently has, but it’s still common to see people spend a stupid amount of money on certain cars there.

I hope Cars and Bids does not end up like Bring a Trailer.

I agree - sites like Cars & Bids, Hemmings, and BAT are a better place to find lower-mileage cars that are in top shape but of course also fetch top dollar and a premium over what you might find from a seller that does not cater to enthusiasts (dealers, private party, etc.). If I was looking for an excellent

They certainly should show him some love so he can go get a proper haircut.

It’s an article about who’s winning in the car auction space, when writing about the Superbowl you don’t mention the 4th (or worse) place team just because the coach used to be a commentator on your network.

The difference between buying a car online and buying one in person is negligible. Unless you are a bodywork expert, a professional inspector, or someone like Wayne Carini, shopping for cars in person can be misleading. Online, you don’t have the pressure of salespeople breathing down your neck, the classic up-sell,

CaB still seems to be doing well and growning. And while BaT gets more traffic, some less popular cars may get more attention on CaB.

If you have a modern car that rarely pops up on Barrett Jackson / Mecum, you know why BaT is superior:

I was at Mecum this weekend, looking at a car I was seriously considering buying. Then I realized that needed to (a) buy a bid card for $2-500, (b) get pre approved as a bidder with proof of funds (c) figure out how to deal with a live auction, (d) somehow wire funds THAT DAY (Saturday) to pay for a car. In terms of

The limited year-range is disappointing with Cars & Bids though, especially if you’re looking to buy a fun/second car and are shopping more based on price rather than specific models.

Yeah, the author presented it as people just buying cars they’ve never seen, but even if that’s true in an in person sense, there’s very few cases on BaT where someone is getting into something they didn’t have sufficient information on beforehand.

I find DeMuro’s videos tedious and somewhat annoying...but I just bought a GTI on CaB. It was a pretty great experience. I just wish his site had an RSS feed so I could check it a little more frequently.

That listing of the 968 pictured in the heading had one of the most memorable photo shoots. Most listings on BaT are not quite to this high standard.

I’m here for the Quirks and Features as well.

Given that with the Mecum/Jackson-Baretts I have to see the middle-aged/elderly white corpulent buyers just to have a look at some stunning cars, BAT is a win-win all round.

I’ll keep doing my part as a Jalopnik reader and not buy any new cars

Maybe Mazda and Saab can join together and give money to candidates that support the repeal of the chicken tax.

Yes and they are probably giving to lawmakers who oppose.support abortion or many other causes that Jalopnik objects to. They give to lawmakers who support their agenda, other issues are likely secondary.
