Actually there is a huge difference. These athletes are not employees and the gear in question are not employer provided uniforms. I have no problem asking employees not to wear employer branded items or in anyway preventing them from creating an association with their employer when protesting or expressing an opinion…

Are they asking the Debate team not to wear LSU gear when they protest the Oil pipeline? No. Tell me, what’s the difference then? When you get the difference you will get while this is scummy.

They are not employees, and LSU is not a private institution. LSU could *maybe* argue the coaches shouldn’t wear the gear, but even then its dumb.

The public university of the State of Louisiana, ostensibly educating its students to be leaders out in the world, wants to encourage them to shut their mouths about uncharged state-sanctioned murders lest some athletic wear middle manager become nervous about profit margins. Seems on the level.
