I’d be okay if they’d just included a line early on where she said something explicit, like “When I was growing up in Australia...” or whatever.

That could be it. I think I read that they spend half a year in Australia and half in the U.S., so maybe that reinforces her accent too.
That’s a shock! Like hearing Mila Kunis speak Russian (her first language):
I’m probably mixing up my memory of the accents Matt Dillon and his family had.
I’m embarrassed to admit I never noticed Skarsgard’s accent. Maybe because his physical presence overwhelmed everything else for me.
I agree: Reese is beautiful. Because her role has more comic beats, her physical beauty probably goes under-appreciated.
I liked that moment too. When she was teasing him out of crying.
SW has a narrow expressive range. I guess that is supposed to suit the character she’s playing, but it makes watching her a not very rewarding experience, for the most part.
Madeleine does stomp around like Tracy Flick, though. I enjoy the shots of her marching forth to do battle.
It’s been so long since I’ve seen that. Maybe when she’s doing a regional American accent, like a New England one, it forces her into a more authentic sound?
The making of Baby Jane ended in Episode 4, and now they’re going to take four more episodes to show all the “Who did or did not get nominated for an Oscar?” anguish. Plus a lot of crap about the director that I don’t care about. It’s painful. Ryan Murphy has no self-discipline.
I noticed the Australian slips in the last Kidman movie I saw, Rabbit Hole. I think she just can’t do a convincing American accent.
However, she did tell me she noticed Kidman’s Australian accent would creep in every now and then.
Feud is going on way too long. They could have told the whole thing in 4-5 episodes; they didn’t need eight. It’s the same plot points over and over.
Shailene Woodley just sort of shows up, doesn’t she?
The writers probably thought the dick exposure added credibility to the “broken urethra” plot point.
I was just saying: I think Celeste kills Perry. But that’s an interesting theory about the twins being the abusers of Amabella. Why did Amabella name Ziggy, do you think? Because he was a new kid, and had no social capital?
No, because the dick is seen so briefly—in maybe two frames, in a dark room, so it’s completely easy to miss. It wasn’t anything like Marky Mark’s reveal in Boogie Nights.
how is this Jez article an extreme overreaction...?
I think that scene wasn’t showing her “grabbing it” but him slipping it into her hand, unwanted. She referred to the maneuver, very uneasily, as “That’s some trick.”
