I dunno, I think it was ok for my sister to have the shower for her youngest. They didn't ask for or receive anything big. Diapers, onesies, other stuff infants need lots of. Also she didn't throw it, several of her friends did. That strikes me as appropriate.

My sister has three boys. The first two are almost 5 years apart. The second two are 22 months apart. I went to the shower for her third (four years ago - his birthday is Saturday). I had no idea that you're not supposed to have showers for your after-first kids until like 2 months ago.

My mom calls me a surprise when she's happy with me, an accident when she's less so. I was definitely not planned.

Went to a craft fair today. Got a new ring. It's the twin of one my ex-boyfriend gave me shortly before I left him. I loved that ring and was sad to give it back just because the style suited me so well. I'm pretty happy I got it back (in a sense), without the weird connotations.
