““That isn’t really the approach that we have. We don’t sit down and start isolating a list of characters and then build stories around those.“

Lucas liking it actually makes me feel better about the movie as I agree with his problems with The Force Awakens. In terms of being a fun science fantasy romp, it’s a pretty good mostly well made movie, but in terms of being the 7th part of an ongoing saga bringing back the classic cast, personally I found it more

Dammit. This marketing campaign is slowly but surely working on me. Being excited about Star Wars thoroughly irritates the part of me that sees cinematic universes as a cooption of fandom and a way to make film even more like television. But there is no sense in resisting. It looks kind of good.

As easy as it would be to make a “If George likes it, it must suck!” joke, I don’t think that’s the case here. He had specific criticisms of TFA which are completely valid - the movie definitely straddles the line between “homage” and “ shameless fanservice” as JJ is wont to do.

You shouldn’t. Regardless of his abilities of being a film creator, as a consumer of art he has a track record of excellent taste. This is a guy who could talk your ear off about the works of Kurosawa, Ford, Leone, etc. If he likes your movie, that’s definitely a compliment.

We can have interdimensional tentacled monsters in Guardians but not in Watchmen. I think this settles every Marvel vs DC argument ever.

It’s not a Death Star. The Empire calls it Battle Station. Death Star is just rebel Propaganda.

So...Dig. Dig as the leader. Sane, competent, history of leading soldiers, badass, etc. He’s the man.

Which provides the background for this line.

“Well actually” the bothans died getting the plans to the second Death Star.

I prefer if it’s stormtroopers doing it. Those guys need a chance to show they can be reasonably competent and hit people once in a while. Have Rogue One be a movie with regular soldier fighting on both sides with minium reference to the Force.

Of course the main difference to TFA is that we already know the plot synopsis of Rogue One, including how it ends, since 1977....

I don’t watch star wars for the mystery of the story, I watch it because it’s a damn good story. And it’s a prequel, we already know the final outcome so avoiding spoilers gets ridiculous, better to show us the highlights so we want to see more.

I know I am in the minority but I find the obsessive secrecy from the movie producers and the constant policing from the fans way more annoying than the spoilers.

eminent domain makes me sick.

Being sprayed with water seems like it would be better than with something worse, like bullets.

Educate yourself. The protesters are breaking into private construction sites and trespassing on privately owned lands. There is not a single portion of the pipeline that goes on reservation land.

Energy Transfer Partners is doing the same shit in West Texas.
They’ve already plowed through people’s property citing “eminent domain” (To benefit the public). The plowed through some ancient indian sites on some private land.
No public is benefiting from this. It’s all to sell to Mexico, so they can turn around and

And not entirely peaceful.

Ah they should have just used guns.
