Talk about cliche...

He might be a nice guy in most areas of his life, but I won’t forgive him for headlining a COVID-denier/anti-masker rally in my parent’s hometown last summer at the height of the COVID pandemic. This event was chud’s-choice of local far-right ideologues, all of which espousing the idea that COVID wasn’t something to

I’m not really concerned about his political views either. I just it based on his food at his restaurants, which I’ve had twice and it was ... not good? Now is that his fault or the fault of the shitty management at the particular locations? Who knows, but his names on the door so... Yeah, I’ll trash him for that.

He just signed a 3 year, $80 million contract.  He has money.  Anyone who has a lot of money can donate to worthy causes. I guarantee you, like, Rupert Murdoch’s list of charitable giving is pretty impressive. His personal politics would say a lot more about what type of person he is than rattling off a list of

Shitting on people who are collecting a social benefit program BECAUSE THEY LOST THEIR JOB is actually wretched behavior though. I don’t think it’s immoral to be rich as much as it’s immoral how many problems poverty is allowed to create, but if you’re a millionaire who hasn’t known financial uncertainty in over a

Perhaps if he supported liveable wages and unionization for the people and industry he claims to care about, such charitable works wouldn’t be needed. Instead, these acts of charity also serve to shore up the system of wild exploitation.

Yes and no. I certainly celebrate what he’s doing but, if he’s on different side of issues I care about then I sure as hell would like to know.

There is a difference between a performative gesture that at best did nothing to help black activists and showing support for black activists. While the black Instagram boxes were superficial gestures, it’s not a great look for Feiri to show no support during the George Floyd protests.

It’s a pop culture site examining how a major celebrity manages his image and how that image has evolved. They’re not digging in. It’s a thoughtful and balanced piece.

Probably not. FWIW, I’m not seeing anything to indicate political giving for Fieri. Seems to be content raising a fuckton of money for his charitable causes.

“he definitely strikes me as a ‘bootstraps’ guy like the rock”

Yeah. Fieri belittling people who drew unemployment benefits rather than work for wages far less than unemployment is kind of concerning. It makes his philanthropy look like it’s less he’s trying to address systemic issues and more a performance for his brand.

I have an immediate visceral negative reaction to anyone with that hairstyle but if he’s helping people with his money, I guess there’s some goodness there.

Eh, it’s a decent piece to chew on. I don’t think it’s a hitpiece or anything.

After reading that headline and seeing the picture, I was saddened to learn this is a real thing and not a mockumentary.

Re: John Mulaney

Who or what are they supposed to be inspiring?

In NYC, they actually checked my vaccine card. I was very comforted by that.

Agreed but Sony should give more leeway until supply of the ps5 increases. Discounted ps plus or some other reward for fans who upgrade.

Every time a Republican politician leaves Texas, the tip line should be called. The politician OBVIOUSLY left the state to get his wife/daughter/mistress an out-of-state abortion. Abetting an abortion. $10,000 dollars right there.
