Yeah, even as a June-truther I found it unnecessary. I get that the intention is an ongoing series, but they are really flattening out a lot of the book's ambiguity.
I've read the book like a zillion times and that has resonated with me for nearly 30 years. It's hard for me not to project it all on to the show.
Lol
You can't just move to another country
Inorite? She really DID want to have teas and bake cookies all along!
And the criticism of it willfully misrepresents it, so we all win.
Even the bro with a rose who started that thread admits in the middle that he knows she was joking.
Nothing is more fun than watching bros on the far-left and bros on the far-right come together in their mutual hatred of famous liberal women.
I'm going to say the same thing people say when people's problematic favs use gay slurs:

Yeah, that's what I said, idiot.
Wow, my block button is getting a lot of action today due to this comments section!
Yay! This is one of the funniest shows on tv
I found Clara exhausting. The longer she was on, the less invested in her I was. Bill is a breath of fresh air.
Also, I've been thinking some more about your comments, and I think one of the reasons I like this show so much is *because* they are fuckups. I think that's how I'd be if discovered I was magic, making a goddamn mess of everything, since I already do that pretty well *without* magic!
Right. Only creatures who get their magic from the wellspring are affected.
I've only just started the books, so I can't speak to that, but I don't think you are off-base in your hapless (but likable!) idiots assessment of the characters. I don't read a lot a fantasy, but I do think that The Magicians is also sort of a meta-commentary on the genre. Like Lisa said in the recap, Julia…
Ok. I'm glad this article was such a cathartic experience for you.
You do you, girl.
