Ideally, lifting mask mandates should be tied to vax/infections metrics. Thankfully, I live in an area that was good about masking through the spring and is now pretty much at herd immunity with basically no community spread, so I (being vaxxed) feel completely comfortable going just about anywhere in my community

Frozen jalapeño poppers are also surprisingly good on the grill.

Here’s a leak of what looks like a Ford made cap. I like it. Hopefully it’s light, easily put on/off, and not too bleedingly expensive. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/ford-maverick-truck-bed-cap-204000683.html

We have a big rhubarb patch so I’m always looking for uses. I’m only good with one baked good per season, so most springs I make a bunch of rhubarb simple syrup. This year I infused a bottle of gin and it’s excellent. Plus it’s a great way to use up a ton of rhubarb.

I may be misunderstanding the intent of this article, but it’s my understanding that you can’t set up Roth IRAs for non-working dependents, so if you’re looking to save money for a youngish child’s future education, it seems like it makes more sense to use 529. If you’re saving for retirement, then the IRA.

Yep. I want to see more comps to sedans, hatchbacks, and CUVs.

creating playlists is a chore (only slightly better on the desktop in a web browser)

Yeah. Not only is the interface terrible and the integration with youtube annoying (no, I don’ t want random music when I’m looking through YT and I don’t want random YT playlists in my music app), my YTM has completely stopped working on like 1 in 4 songs (I just get “error, retry”). If it weren’t for the ad-free

As I understand it (perhaps I’m wrong), a microwave’s radiation is absorbed less by fat molecule, but because fat requires less energy to heat the fat actually heats up faster. Even if fat doesn’t absorb the radiation directly, fat is going to heat much faster than starch via the conductive heat of the water molecules.

Yeah. I tend to look at 3-4 star reviews (many of which will provide pictures), and then scan 1-2 star to see if there is any common issue.

Yep! And biscuits have so much water and fat from the butter that they don’t even need to be wrapped. About 15-30 seconds for a biscuit and it’s steaming hot and fluffy again.

It definitely has its place, and like any kitchen tool it needs to be used for what it’s good at. That’s particularly true of the microwave because it’s absolutely unique at what it does/how it works.

To be honest, I’ve found the microwave to be the best biscuit warmer. Takes only seconds and it doesn’t dry them out. Cold biscuits are like hockey pucks because of all the butter in them, so heating them from the inside in a microwave gets them fluffy and soft again because warms the butter all the way through.

Interesting. I’m less concerned with social engineering as I tend to think that most things government and business do are in some form social engineering. My big thing is reducing/eliminating means-testing (it’s ineffective that we drive people into poverty before they qualify for social help) and absurdly punitive

Sincere question. Why are you for UBI while being against headcount-based tax credits (which are basically the closest thing to UBI the US has)?

Perhaps, but it’s currently still scheduled so my hope is they’re working on shuffling some stock around to keep current appointments.

Not likely. I’ve done some looking, but nothing. This morning was literally the first time in the weeks since I became eligible that I got a whiff of an appointment that was less than 3 hours drive from me, and there seemed to be a bunch of available J&J appointments, so I’m guessing pretty much anything that pops up

After weeks of trying, I finally scheduled a vax appointment (for J&J) this morning, and literally 10 minutes after hitting “schedule” I got the news notification about this decision. I’m not worried at all about the risk, but super worried my appointment (tomorrow noon) will get canceled.

Yes. That's enough salt. Which was the entire point of my post.

My comment was about home cooking in general, but yes it applies to salting pasta water too.
