^Exactly this. There is good reason that filmed live productions of Into the Woods (first one that comes to mind) et al. continue to be discussed and praised far more than their clumsy movie adaptations. Studios, know who your audience is and cater to them, and let the experts and professionals who made the stage

A fine and clever quip -here, have a star! - but I will now have that song stuck in my head until my own cancellation.

That’s the Ab club for you though. We don’t like this person so what he said is bad. Oh, a person we like said more or less the same thing? Don’t worry, its different!

THIS is the kind of thoughtful, reflective essay tying  pop culture with the writer’s personal experience that I used to find so appealing about the AV Club lo these many years ago. If this is a taste of what the post-sale “new” AV Club will be like, I, like several other commenters on this on this post, am feeling

I totally agree. I was enjoying the movie ( and will likely rewatch next December if it gets re-added to Netflix Canada), but when she accepted Harper back at the end I actually yelled "What?! NO!!!" at my screen.

I was pretty involved in reading this thread, but now I must leave immediately to Google " Miriam Margoyles Steve Martin"

I totally agree with this, and my marriage with my husband is very similar to what you describe. Bring this to it’s natural conclusion I suppose my (very embarrassed) husband had a slip of the thumb and accidentally posted the very nerdy reddit thread he was reading about Severance ( one of of our favourite shows) to

The recency bias here is insane”

The OP clearly didn’t “centre” spell check as a priority

THANK YOu for saying it! The presumptuous and brainless overuse use of “we” rather than “I” on this site lately drives me bananas. I’ve taken to amusing myself by taking it at face value that that “we think” “we remember” “we can’t wait”, et al. means that the writer of the article is in fact, The Collective Emma

I really like Dakota Johnson, I find her to a breath of fresh air.

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that the comments are the main reason I still come here ( I was a dedicated lurker during the old days of Good Av Club and only created an account/ started commenting in the past year or two, which is indicative of my poor sense of timing). The second that comments are disabled on thi

i read you last paragraph certain that it would end like this:

Was about to post the same about Gosling. He also sang for a band called Dead Man's Bones in the early aughts, and of course sang in La La Land as well

“ Thou shant speak ill of Her Royal Majesty the Queen, lest thou loseth thy head!” (To be read in a silly Monty Python voice)

Me neither and same here. I’m sure he was nervous, which one can have some sympathy for, but that opening monologue was....woof. he did himself (and the writing team, who admittedly didn’t do their best work either) a further disservice with his weird and self-defensive lashing out every time a (terrible) joke bombed.

I'm way less surprised about these allegations (which I believe are true) than I am about the fact that this show is still on

I’m excited for the new season, and am always happy to see Leslie Bibb pop up in things. I’ve like her work going all the way back to Popular (despite that show being a grim warming of all of the typical Ryan Murphyness of the decades to come.) She’s one of those actors who always brings her A-game with charisma to

If there’s one thing we can all agree on on, it’s that Taylor Swift’s popularity taking a slight hit was definitely the worst thing to happen in the year 2016. I mean, can anyone even remember anything else that happened that year?

My husband has the dubious honour of having been a grip (with IMDB credit) on the Wicker Man remake. While a bad remake, as a lover of camp and so-bad-it's-good monstrosities, I'm very proud of him for this.
