I guess one way to look at Animal Crossing is as a life simulator. It's not as granular as The Sims, and in this incarnation you have an actual job as mayor, so I think there would be more of a feeling of having a goal. Having said that, in Animal Crossing you're left to your own devices to set your own goals and aims.

That's how the Kotaku website was back in 2004 / 2005. They had multiple authors writing, but they did not identify who wrote the post and they didn't have their writers sign their posts.
