Just a couple of observations:
Goofy article. First of all because it follows on the heels of your site’s (admittedly stupid) “actually, no one really went to see Eras, as far as I can tell from my own screening” piece. Second because Nolan isn’t even right. I mean sure, the studios would like to get a cut of $100 million more than they’d like to…
“marketplace where studios would control production, distribution, and exhibition”
It was great to see Loki feel a bit menacing again too- both in the alleyway and interrogating Brad back in the TVA. I liked Loki’s journey a lot in S1, but it’s nice to see him enjoy a bit of power again after largely being on the run.
It was a little jarring how the episode just drops us in the middle of the hunt for X5 despite not really explaining how all the characters got to that stage.
I agree that this episode did not help establish what Loki really wants. He really wanted to to tell everyone about Kang in the premiere, that’s fine. And then he wanted to find Slyvie because... ? I guess because he saw her in the future? Was he that hot on finding her before that glimpse?
But now that he found her..…
I got a big laugh out of the episode immediately nullifying the big cliffhanger from last time with “Nah, it’s just the past.” I assume the lukewarm reaction to all the multiverse stuff had something to do with that.
I thought it was common knowledge that McNuggets haven’t been as good since they got rid of the possum faces.
I fully support the new trend of if a multiverse is involved, you have to cast Ke Huy Quan
My guess is, the writers will have to lean into the slayer plotline. Guillermo wants to hang out with the vamps as their friend and equal and not their familiar. It seems to work at first but his sojourn into vampirism kicked something loose in his brain and his slayer persona is becoming uncontrollable...
It’s on a WWDITS scale, which makes it a B- to B elsewhere.
Even though I know there’s more seasons coming, Exit Interview kinda felt like a series finale. You had a lot of cameos but also there’s not a lot, if any, storylines that have been established thru the seasons left. Really the main one has been Guillermo’s quest to be a vampire and his relationship with Nandor. We…
I did not expect them to bump her up to theme-song-status, but they’ve barely done anything with her beyond making it kinda clear she’s the one who put the hex on Nadja.
The Staten Island of Dr Moreau .
Started a little uneven but MAN that payoff. Not just the entire goddamn news broadcast, but the end gag of Guillermo in the trap corridor.
I guess people can think what they like; I found her delightful.
I mean she’s not a manic pixie dream girl, just like a well adjusted person in a show about being not that.
Hell, just 5 years ago I probably would have been aware of it much sooner. I feel like AV Club would have been doing weekly recaps. With the way things are now, I think if You’re The Worst came out today I wouldn’t find out for years.
So right up your alley then!
