Yes, we have similar rules in the US for the same reasons.  Just because it’s your pet chicken doesn’t mean that it won’t get loose and someone won’t slaughter it and feed it to their pregnant wife, potentially causing a birth defect, for example.

Paul Kinsey, that amount of money was raised by Esther’s fan so that a scanner large enough for Esther and other large animals at the Ontario Vet School could get the medical attention they needed. While this was disturbing, it is refreshing to see a young evangelical lead with his head for a change.

I get it. You’re smaller.  You were probably on the soccer team for most of high school.  You don’t practice open field tackles, but Jesus dude, at least try to use your arms. 

I mentioned this elsewhere, but the money was raised to get a scanner for the University of Guelph’s veterinary school (great school, great research centre, great clinic).  It isn’t just for Esther and it’ll do a lot of good.

I suspect that the policy exists as a food safety measure. As you say, it’s highly unlikely that anyone in business would intentionally do it, but the policy makes sure that it’s impossible to accidentally contaminate the food supply.

Well, it’s Canada so I’m not sure how much “scrabbling to pay for medical care” is going on. 

I have no heirs, so I figure if I spend my last dollar during my last day on earth, I will have played the game right. :-)

This is silly all the way around.

It is likely that other veterinary patients might benefit from the availability of that CT scanner.  Esther probably isn’t hogging it all for herself.
