My logical mind was eye-rolling. My tear ducts spilled over, completely.
He also had to get special dispensation just to wear that uniform because’s he’s no longer in the military. I think the beard issue is different - it’s more custom. For example, King George kept a beard his entire adult life (when it was common fashion) and was in uniform often. It comes down to looking ‘neat’. But…
It was almost offensive how stupid in love harry was (and is!). And I mean offensive to me. As a woman. With easily triggered sexy feelings. I’m offended.
My point was kind of that yeah, this bastion of conservatism and colonialism is coming unmoored from all that. It is not progressive but it is moving in the progressive direction. Some of them will embrace that more than others but change is here.
One of the people the BBC interviewed was a black community organiser and activist based in London. He said this: millennials believe firmly in increasing equality and love and openness. This wedding, after the Brexit vote and Trump’s election, signals that no, we haven’t been going wrong this whole time. No, instead,…
Beautiful car. Man, look at how long that hood line is though...
I’ll buy the water conservation argument, as water for industrial use is a terribly under-priced commodity that has resulted in major “tragedy of the commons” problems. Of course, I’d advocate solving that problem by changing water pricing for commercial usage, rather than making argument for eating more air-cooled…
Counterpoint: Almost every large production facility (1 pork harvest, 3 beef harvest, 1 chicken harvest, 1 turkey harvest, 8 egg grading/pasteurization/process, 5 meat processing, ~15 frozen food, etc.) I’ve been in still use ammonia chilling systems because it is economical to operate compared to other coolant…
But then you have to deal with the “diaper” full of chicken goo! A mildly unpleasant task that is made to sound as bad as possible by someone with a vested financial interest in selling you air-chilled chicken!
Trust me, I’m a writer. My whole life is about procrastination. Want to have homework for the rest of your life?…
Even better, if you want your chicken to have an “almost honey” smell, I can sell you actual honey for the low cost of $5 per pound of chicken! You’re still saving money!
I am all for this, but only if they are friggin’ lasers and you use shark-mounted ones.
I will accept sea bass-mounted friggin’ lasers if there are legal issues involved, however.
Probably not ammonia. The first ammonia-powered air chiller was built in the late 1700's, they’ve found new refrigerants since then.
And yes, the full night shift at a meat plant is devoted to sanitation. Longer conveyors mean more staff required to clean them.
So, let’s see. If air-chilled costs $8 a pound, and water-chilled costs $2 a pound (or significantly less, in my experience, but we’re using the column’s numbers here), then air-chilled is 300% more expensive. The main selling points are flavor and not wasting money on water. You can’t quantify flavor, so we’ll set…
My local store sells “Smart Chicken” which is air-chilled, it’s usually what I end up getting if they have it in stock. It’s a bit more expensive but it’s definitely not 4x as much as the other chicken. You can get a whole chicken for, I dunno, 10-11 bucks.
“Pappyshow”? Did you really say “pappyshow”? OMG, I almost hit my forehead against the desk! I can’t believe someone at theRoot actually wrote down “pappyshow’.. I’m in heaven! Thank you Breanna Edwards! lol
Hainanese chicken rice may be the quintessential chicken dish, superior to any other—and I’m including fried…
