Are they wrong though? I know it was the late 90s and that sort of thing was cool, but random religious references and nonsensical psychobabble are not a substitute for a coherent plot. (see also, Xenogears)

To be fair, you’re playing in a pretty non-standard way. The game just isn’t designed around regularly playing that many characters. I get why it’s a big deal for the people who RP at that level, but it’s not the game’s fault that you’re burning yourself out trying to gain two expansions worth of levels in the course

I just hope they ‘fix’ the battle system. Seiken Densetsu has always been weird like that. Who makes an action RPG but then slows the combat down to a near unplayable crawl?

Edit: Oops. You did mention the boomerang.

This game was honestly not that good.

That was almost physically painful to watch. WTF are they thinking? Who is the target audience? Anyone who’s interested in playing this type of game doesn’t have the early 90s Keen nostalgia, and anyone with the nostalgia wouldn’t be caught dead playing this.

What with all the sheep freakouts? Doesn’t Mareep already exist? Am I missing something?

Sure they do. They’re just doing it on Netflix instead.

Ha ha, yeah. Being in Wrigelyville on game day sucks, but at least afterwards all the drunks are getting on the Red line instead of I-90.

But... why? Who on earth is the target audience for this?

That would be hilarious. Especially since FFXIV’s design philosophy for artifact gear seems to be “the previous set was cool and all, but how can we make it even more over the top and insane?”

FFXI was a great game for its time. Unfortunately, that time as 15 years ago. I have many fond memories of the game but I have absolutely no interest in playing it again now.

It’s less about timing and more about the flow of the music. It’s mostly just moving with the beat (which doesn’t change mid floor unless you hit a trap.) There’s no need for quick reflexes or precise button combos like in a more traditional rhythm game.

I want to say it was in the third part? There was a puzzle where you had to transfer a symbol to your map by “pressing” the map against it. You did this by opening the map, lining it up with the symbol, and closing the DS lid.

The Switch does have potential for that type of brilliance and/or trolling. It’d be great to see the occasional out of place mechanical puzzle solutions (e.g. closing the DS lid to make an imprint on the map in Phantom Hourglass.)

The Vita is a great system that had a lot of potential and it’s a crime that Sony treated it so badly.

One of the very first things I did when I got my Vita was go into the settings and change L/R2 to the front touchpad instead. Made everything much, MUCH better.

There’s enough of a pattern by now that we all kind of saw this disappointing expansion coming ahead of time. Wrath, good. Cata, meh. MoP, good. WoD, meh. Legion, good. BfA... not really much of a surprise here.

I would play the hell out of a Platinum made Battle Angel game.

Am I the only one who didn’t like Space Cats that much? I mean, it’s not terrible or anything, but I spent most of the game thinking “Dogs of War did this better.”
