Which is why I’d talk them down another grand for the maintenance I’m 100% guaranteed it likely needs.

This is CP choice of the week right here. HELL. NO. I know all too well of the horrors of owning a turn of the century Audi A6 - not myself - but through a cousin who had to have an A6 of this ilk sitting in his driveway - which proceeded to bleed his bank account dry. AND its sitting at over 200k miles??? That means…
Lol - it had precise and tight steering feel - very sporty for what it was.
It only has 8600 miles on it - so why not? Also this was actually supposed to be a 3rd generation Ford probe - but Ford wound up giving the platform to Mercury to replace the aged, bigger and uncool Thunderbird based Cougar of that era.
Yep - this was actually supposed to be the next gen Ford Probe - but Ford scrapped that plan and gave it to Mercury to give the brand a younger audience.
I was very surprised by the handling on this Cougar when I had mine for a few years. Though its fwd - it was BMW-esque for the most part.
Had one of these in red as a daily driver for a couple of years. It wasn’t a bad car. Handled better than any FWD coupe had any right to - very tossable. Styling still looks relevant today. I’m voting NP mostly because its barely been driven and still looks decent - though not a fan of that color.
Just about anything still running under its own power AND looks decent AND comes in at $2k or below will always get a NP from me. Thats a price point you can’t really argue with. This Riviera looks fairly decent though I’m sure it has a few issues (90's GM with 177k miles? Yep.), but its likely worth the gamble.
Just got that awesome flashback of Kelly Bundy bouncing up and down - cheers for that mate.
The shade is strong with this one.
Now put them on a cross country road trip - lets see who wins that battle lol.
The great grandaddy of the CR-V. NP for sure. And it’ll likely keep running until the end of time with proper maintenance.
Yep. If they were seeking cheap reliable transportation they failed miserably from the jump in their choice. That $4500 could’ve gone to something way, way more reliable. But as REX2RS said - the reliable choice wouldn’t have a BMW badge on the hood.
This. If they want that sale they should let you check every nook and cranny of the car. I’ve had them put cars on their lift in their own shop just so I can check all the mechanicals underneath before buying.
A 2000 5 Series for $4500? He likely got robbed the second he drove it off the lot.
This was the first thing I thought of - but honestly how many non “enthusiast” car shoppers know to check if all the dash lights are popping to life? I’d wager none of them.
And to think this isn’t even its final form - the even nastier Z28 is just around the corner.
My 2003 325i w/ sport package (no awd) would disagree with you wholeheartedly. The 325i is lighter, nearly as quick - and an overall blast to toss around. Maintenance costs have been “neglible” but not crippling. I love it - but I’ll hit the ejection seat button before that day comes.
Well the mob has spoken - this is CP for sure. Its a rare ride for all the wrong reasons (yay for an italian restricted 2.0L???)- and they decided since the word “rare” applies - they can charge exorbitant amounts of cash for it. Yeah it looks to be in fine shape - but $40k is insane.
Looks like a golf cart built for the apocalypse - I want one!
