I very randomly ended up watching it for the first time this summer. And, yes, was confused by the not-so-subtle suggestion that the Seinfeld bee wanted to fuck a human, and she wasn’t not interested.

There were earlier waves of Cubans before Castro. There is still a largish (but declining) Cuban community in Hudson and Union Counties in New Jersey, and in parts of New York City. These Cubans came over in the 50s, demographically very different from the waves that came over post-Castro. Dirt poor, what we’d call…
So was ox tail :(
The trend in my household seems to be pizza deliveries.
I like the flavor but anytime I’ve had it - usually prepared in a restaurant - I found it tough and overly chewy. The last time I had it, I made it myself and it came out the most acceptable of any time prior. I made a curry that I simmered for hours. But even then I felt myself thinking “if I’d used lamb this would…
Goat is just one of those things I keep trying and trying and trying and no matter how much I try it I can’t shake the feeling that I’d just rather be eating lamb.
I keep expecting Freya’s commitment to vegan recipes to bite her in the ass but it hasn’t yet. I don’t know if she’s my favorite baker, but tip of the hat to her solid performance while dialing up the difficulty level on herself.
The German physicist won the technical round, the Italian engineer came in second, and I will be cutting and pasting this sentence into every recap for the next eight weeks.
Jairzeno repeatedly failed to make any real impact, not in one single bake. Even if he wasn’t dead last, he was always just “eh”. Also his boat was a sloppy mess and had no interactive element to it, which I believe was part of the Show Stopper brief.
I can see that. For me, I’d still tune in assuming the characters were interesting enough, or they were telling truly personal stories.
That does sound like a more fitting analogy for Roth :)
You know what, you’re right. The original post I was writing was specifying that he hadn’t done much since Sopranos and I shortened it to “one-hit-wonder” which is definitely not true or the same thing. I was sloppy and wrong.
ok now he needs a comeback
I don’t know if people actually say “throwing in the shoes” but there are numerous sports where leaving your shoes on the field/mat is symbolic of retiring. Off the top of my head soccer and I believe Olympic wrestling and Olympic weight lifting.
I actually really liked Cara Dune as a character. It was cool to see a woman with a different body type who could get physical and wreck some fools.
This is all dumb. I have no doubt Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni could nerd the fuck out together in one afternoon and bang out a concept for Rangers of the New Republic that didn’t include Carano, and it would be great and the only folks who would complain are probably a bunch of damn Nazis anyway. Put Lawless in it,…
Scared of going toe-to-toe with Daddy Trump, even in a primary. Trump would take it personally and bury DeSantis’ political career forever. Probably take a shit, name it Don Jr, rename his eldest son “Shit Head”, and run his turd against DeSantis in the next Florida gubernatorial GQP primary. The turd would win in a…
I have yet to read a strong argument against making this kind of correction beyond “it’s hard.” I can understand content can be catalogued across multiple systems and require layers of bureaucracy to update. But the number of trans writers making this kind of request must be miniscule.
I was going to write a post about this being quite a gamble, Chase being a one-hit-wonder, etc. But then I read the description for Ribbon of Dreams. Not clear to me if that’s still in the cards but it certainly sounds interesting.
She doesn’t sound very sympathetic from your description, but maybe there’s something of value to learn from her experience vs who she is and the specific mistakes she’s made. The challenges she faces and obstacles in her way exist for other people too, some of whom did make smart choices but still got stuck -- or…
