I don’t think that’s entirely fair.  It’s been a week and there have been dozens of arrests.  Because of the sheer stupidity of everyone live streaming the insurrection there’s tons of data to sift through.  It makes sense to use the public to identify everyone, especially when it was already happening.

Another aspect of this is that there is much less of a taboo with having mental illnesses than in the past, even as recent as 10 years ago.  While I do think that social media has contributed to a rise in depression I also think that those who in decades past would have kept quiet about their issues are speaking up.
