IIRC, "discriminate" is the very word she spells in the final cut right before Matthew Lawrence walks in on him in the bathroom.

That's fair. I should have clarified "for 1993."

"As an adult you can tell she was already way fed up with his shit"

And he admitted touching those kids!

I hear you. But, based on what Miranda says throughout the movie, Daniel never really had a purpose or a reason to take life so seriously (or at least never felt that pressure, which I guess does indicate her communication could've been very subpar). She was presumably picking up the slack in income, and definitely

In fairness though, it ends with not-that happening.

Eh, don't worry, I'll see myself out.

It's his face that makes the hot dog impression for me.

Mrs. Stoutfire

Or there's that…or blame the restaurant for not reminding him what's actually in Cajun food. Like the Soup Nazi as the blackjack dealer asking Austin Powers if he was sure he wanted to stay at 5.

I think the idea is that they both were in the wrong (not for the breakup, because it was definitely mostly on him, but for how they handled it), but by the end each met each other in the middle and started to figure out how to behave positively and rationally for the kids.

Mrs. Doubtfire: He was quite fond of the drink. It was the drink that killed him.

Yeah, but even though it wasn't explicitly mentioned, I think you're led to believe that he did indeed learn from his mistakes. Even though he got lucky with the job he had on the new TV show, he did grow as a character and learn how to take responsibility for his kids and for himself throughout the movie. I think

The scene between Miranda and Mrs. Doubtfire when she first hires her explains a lot of that; she does mention that he never seemed to take things seriously, which I interpret to mean they had several conversations about money and his lack of stability.

What always bugged me was when Daniel apologized for the pepper….but nothing in that entire exchange revealed that it was Daniel who put it on his food. In reality Stu should've said "That's oka…..hey, wait, you did that on purpose?"

I clicked play, and about 30 seconds in as soon as he started making a stink about his missing seat I decided I couldn't continue.

Further, I think the mere inclusion of them as characters major to the plot was pretty progressive in itself.

I guess he looked better in a drama considering the rest of his work.

Wow. So Two Face AND Robin were black until they recast two white guys?

Oh definitely, it could be an aberration. But I do remember he was seen as a potential Robin (eventually going to Chris O'Donnell) which could also have changed his career arc.
