There was some overlap, but you could see the difference when comparing the 2008 election material to the 2012 election material. Even the little subtle things they did in 2008 were pretty funny, like Armisen playing around with the touchscreen board.

It bugs me that SNL's jokes have just become so predictable. You could see the crack from Jay Pharoah playing Barkhad Abdi from a mile away.
