I had the same issue with Promising Young Woman. When you boil it down, the entire movie is about a woman willingly throwing her life away to make the tragic death of her best friend all about her.

Update is the one part of SNL where you can kind of be a little loose. Fey, Fallon, Poehler, Meyers, they all embraced that. One of my favorite Update moments was after the 2020 election. Everyone was on the high of Trump being gone. Che had his tie undone and he was sipping a Negroni on-camera.
I’ve heard a great review that says the book is what it’s like to BE an alcoholic and the movie is what it’s like to be MARRIED to an alcoholic.
Oh damn. My introduction to her was Faerie Tale Theatre, which my uncle recorded onto VHS for me. Such a talent.
She was the center of The Shining, a fantastic movie.
I recently rewatched The Shining and it’s so strange the discourse around her in it because her performance not only isn’t bad, it’s uniquely good. It’s honestly one of the most brutally realistic depictions of a woman in an abusive relationship. It’s interesting too because throughout the movie she’s legitimately…
Damn... RIP.
“50 cent version of Batman” is pretty much Rorschach’s entire deal though.
Since many of the posters here (me included) are often criticizing the writing on the site, it’s worth saying -- this review is very well written.
If that didn’t stop the creators of Deep Impact, why should it stop Kravitz?
Frankly, I think it’s a good change. You don’t want to trick people into thinking this is some light hearted tale set on Aoshima.
Please let Maxine vs. Leprechaun be the new Freddy vs. Jason or Alien vs. Predator.
While obviously not on the level of Weekend at Bernies, there are some funny corpse gags in Men at Work.
I’m a little surprised this movie didn’t make more money. I remember Bernie and Batman being up at the movie theatre for pretty much the entirety of the summer of 89.
But probably not for the porn performers.
Why use AI to recreate James Dean’s voice, when you could do an imitation of it and create an alternate universe scenario where James Dean lived to become president instead?
It’s the tech industry. If no one wants it, Eleven Labs will just juice analytics until an acquisition comes along. Then that company will need to justify their purchase somehow, and suddenly the “Smart Fridge Talks Like Peter Lorre” option is an opt-out feature. It’s a fun industry!!
