Well an intelligent and compassionate government would put laws in place to make sure people are paid and business can stay closed long term until the virus is mitigated.
I went a couple of weeks ago because I live in Texas and the power was out at my house for a day and a half and it was sweltering and boring as fuck in quarantine. I went to two movies back to back and I was the only person in the theater for either one of them. It was the ideal experience. And when I came home I had…
I’ve been going to the movies since the age of six and the theatrical experience has been one of the most basic, joyful things in my life. I had the great fortune of going to college during the height of the film guild era and, for years, went to the movies two to three, sometimes four, nights a week. I love the…
Seriously. Counting out the titles, more than half the library in this thing is sequels. King of fighters, Metal Slug, and Samurai showdown make up 22 titles on this cabinet. Surely we could have sacrificed the least liked of those for anything else.
This right here. There are plenty of solid non-fighter games in the NG library. And yet, 60% of the games in this machine are fighters.
“But at the same time, I do want to plug the idea that visual literacy is a skill that needs to be learned, not a skill inherent to people”
“So long story short (too late, I know!) I can see how people could glance at this cartoon quickly and misread it, especially since most Americans are not taught much about critically reading a visual text (heck we still get people everyday posting Onion articles as if they are legit).”
Interesting. I feel like we did cover it when I was in school; there was always freakin’ Newsweek around and for years we were given exercises in interpreting material in it... political and other cartoons were absolutely something we covered in these types of assignments.
Showing my age here, but I still break out the old NES emulator when I want an afternoon playthrough and my go to is usually Contra, Bionic Commando, or Crystalis depending on my mood.

Or games where Superman has to fly through hoops.
I wish the Picard facebook group I am in would have these types of discussions in it. Instead we get people bitching that Picard is too old, that there’s not enough space battles, and that people wearing sunglasses or struggling with alcoholism are “not canon” or are “not realistic” for the Star Trek future.
In TOS there’s also “The Enterprise Incident” which is pretty shady.
The proper term isn’t downvotes, it’s “surprise disagreements.”
Well at least that will give them a sense of pride and accomplishment
he might not have any problem with “tomfoolery” per se, just Quill’s.
Thor can be a good guy, as well as sincerely not like Quill. He might see through his facade, and decide that he’s not going to support such tomfoolery.
I agree. I think they compliment each other in their Infinity War/Endgame scenes. That being said, I'm glad they dialed back the awkwardness a little from Ragnarok, which to me was not as good as everyone made it sound.
I agree 100%. I think you may have hit on the right way to incorporate both characters too--Thor’s development would definitely be more consistent if he responded in a supportive manner!
