Agree completely. Everyone who’s arguing it’s not the “new normal” is woefully ignorant to what’s taking place in the American (and presumably global) workplace, particularly in the tech sector.

I was let go (along with my former manager and best friend) about a month ago. It was veiled as “performance related,” but was really a mix of downsizing and a convenient excuse to get rid of the only people who bothered to say what everyone else was thinking about some questionable decisions being made.

Wait. I hope I’m not glossing over something.

My favorite quote by one of the founders of the company I was just with, when in a company pep rally (quarterly meeting) the question of work-life balance was raised:

Same here. I wish even ONE of these other guys were a little more stylish on the course. I have a lot of Puma gear because it both fits well and looks awesome.

Is it weird that my biggest (okay, tied with the lack of diversity) issue with the video is that it depicts EXACTLY what college shouldn’t be about. You mean to tell me that it’s about paying money for friends that are exactly like you and paying more money to get an education that you’re not going to pay attention

Is it just me, or is there just something about him that makes you want to see him fail? And even with that sentiment, #1 yesterday was HARD to watch. I really, genuinely thought I was looking at a recording of myself.

I picked Rickie to win/contend at the middle two majors this year. Disappointment ensued; I hope he doesn’t end up like Sergio. He’s too good not to win one, but he’s got to start his rounds better if he ever wants to hoist a major trophy.

Hm. Also looks a lot like the handles for half doors on YJs.

Hey Mr. Scott, whatcha gonna do?

Good lord that’s one cute dog.

The last big one is feeding cost. As dumb as it sounds to use the Wrangler as an example of “good fuel economy,” you’re lucky to get 15 MPG in real-world driving, it beats the hell out of its predecessors which get around half that. And of course you don’t need to know a specialist to get good replacement parts or

You do you, but I’m not willing to sacrifice people’s perception of me (which extends long past a 30 year fixed rate loan.) You can get out from under a house. It might not be easy, but you can. But once you toss your ethics to the wayside just to keep your job, it’s going to be really hard for a future employer to

Hang your hat on the fact that you have morals. No job is worth selling your soul for.

Got let go three weeks ago tomorrow; in the midst of a job search. It didn’t hit me until just the other day. I’ve had a lot of folks step up and pass on some freelance (which isn’t exactly steady income,) but the reality is that the transition isn’t really that easy. We’re programmed to think that from the hours of

Dr. Seuss’s Sleep Book is the longest. Never read this book before bed, because the kid will never go to sleep anyway, and you won’t finish the book before sunrise.

Hello, new wallpaper.

Also, pooping is good.

Day Three: Moving Day!

Greg, I get that you don’t like golf, but I can honestly say I’ve never played at a place that didn’t let anyone who walked up with the cash play a round. What’s your beef? If you hate classist and racist and sexist and bullshit stuff, shouldn’t you just say “Fuck most everything?”
