Clive being a hockey fan didn’t take me off guard, but you’re right that we haven’t had anything explicit up to that point to expect it. As for the Don E and Major road trip reveal I thought it totally worked. Though as soon as the person in truck spoke I really began to question if it was Mama Leone and even before…
Wait, did we already meet the French inspector before? Because otherwise his introduction here was insanely abrupt, I felt like I had wandered into another show by mistake.
One of the benefits of having a cast member of a long running show direct is their bind with their fellow actors. Both Gina Rodriguez and Justin Baldoni got wonderful performances from the actors in their episodes as directors. Andrea Navedo rarely gets the dramatic stuff but did a great job.
Man, iZombie is always so damn good with its continuity. Having Mama Leone’s story tie all the way back to Blaine’s homeless kids is great, and I had to go check IMDB to see if she actually did pop up in the first season (she didn’t). Major’s reunion with Angus was also a great, intense scene, and a perfect way to…
I just about died at the opening bars of Kiss Me.
Remember last week when I was talking about the show’s expert precision Truly Madly Deeply deployment?
As fun as the brain was, its prevalence and influence on Liv made no sense. I’m not one who’s in the camp that complains that the personalities have taken over compared to season 1, but the whole conceit of this two parter was BrainLESS in Seattle because the victim’s brain was mostly missing, and what was left was…
I have the same quibbles about the story too, but when a show makes me laugh and laugh often — from poor Rosa’s undercover salon stint from (her) hell, the frequent belly scoots out of the room (“I’m sorry you had to sit through that absurd conversation” *scootscootscoot*), and Holt’s super-formal texts — I can live…
I thought the Renegade was Mama Leoni.
Im struggling to remember what drew me into this show in the first place. Because this season has been so consistently terrible it feels like how teen dramas used to be before TV got really good.
the whole time I thought someone was gonna get shot/die I was very tense as well
I don’t know. It feels dumb that someone who’s rallying zombies in the open to attack humans and take over doesn’t get immediately shut down by the armed fascist militia controlling the city. Like, if you paint anti-zombie graffiti, a platoon of soldiers immediately shows up to stop you. But if you throw a zombie…
I’ll make a post about the actual episode in a bit, but have I mentioned I want Liv’s mother and brother to come back now that the secret is out? Also we still know nothing about her dad.
so many logistical questions
And so begins the era of “Let’s try to pretend we don’t know one of the actors did nasty stuff to women, and the crew is refusing to do anything about it.”
This is still getting weekly episodic reviews though, right?
yes! Old Jane dating Raf would’ve freaked out if Petra started talking about their sex life. New Jane ran right over.
Wow. As a Petra fan, this episode had EVERYTHING. I just loved every single thing that happened here.
Your review is definitely spot on this week.
