Not to be trite, but off/weird experiences are how we figure things out. We don’t just pop out knowing how to be, what we need, what’s appropriate, who to choose, what the consequences are. We have to make some mistakes, usually, and those mistakes become essential guideposts and help carve out the true path.

I do remember her talking to John McCain about marriage equality on her show. Did you ever see how she was treated on Oprah’s show when she first came out? Ellen has done work. She owes nothing. This debate is tired and she doesn’t need to give people like this woman a voice.

She strikes me as lazy. Why her fans love her for her “give no fucks” attitude is beyond me. She’s basically giving them all the finger. Can’t be bothered to rehearse or prepare and she’s continually rewarded for it, so why would she bother.

Okay, I’ll bite. I think live music is thrilling. A terrific singer can change up phrasing and intonation, decide to come in ahead of or behind the beat, respond to what’s in her heart or what’s going on in the world. She can keep the material fresh. There is a reason fans of acts like the Grateful Dead or Bruce…
