I'm just glad Thrawn made it out alive. I was afraid this season (and next month's novel) would be it for his contribution to the new canon.
I like it, too. But I think a lot of it is due to my love of the score, which, if I'm honest, is the easiest way to cause me to overrate a film.
I think the appeal of the game depends on the crowd with whom you play it. In my experience, players who submit answers that are transgressive merely for transgressions' sake are rarely rewarded for doing so, either within the game's scoring system or gaining the esteem of the other players. I don't get these…
Let's not forget a licensed game based on a little-known niche property called GAME OF THRONES.
She does specifically mention child support ("It’s the deadbeat-dad thing. Were you paying child support during this time?"), though admittedly that quote is from before she seemingly took a time-out from the interview to actually examine the lyrics.
**SPOILERS FOR THE SECRET ENDING, NOT JUST THE NORMAL ENDING**
So, having now seen the alternate ending… the game is about the kid escaping the game itself, right? He cuts off the power to the thing controlling him, which is I guess theoretically controlled by us as players? "Inside" refers to being inside the game? I…
Your point is well taken, particularly in regards to Inside specifically. And I certainly didn't mean to imply that other art forms are immune to differing audiences. But allow me to defend my thesis of video games being particularly and sometimes unavoidably susceptible in ways unique to the medium with a different…
I had a very similar reaction to your own, though I have not yet been afforded the opportunity to play through a second time for the alternate ending. (From comments I've read, it doesn't seem to have drastically altered or enhanced anyone's understanding; having seen it, would you agree?)
***EASILY-COLLAPSIBLE, POTENTIAL-SPOILER-CONTAINING THREAD***
Anybody else finish it and want to discuss that bananas final act? Yeesh.
I believe the real problem is differing player skill levels, which has always been the biggest hurdle for games' attempts at being high art. While I obviously disagree, I could always see Ebert's reasoning in discounting video games as such because of the increased malleability the audience member brings to the art;…
For some reason, I thought it was a good idea to listen to that episode at work today. It… was not.
Well played.
So is Dylan Baker going to show up again before/during the finale, or is he too busy hanging around the 1980's?
Hilariously, the Insider podcast mentions that Mike reaction complained about in the video was a much-later re-shoot, in 35-degree temperatures.
I don't understand the question, and I won't respond to it.
Honestly, watching this trailer is the first time I've had any interest in seeing this movie, so I guess they did?
Not only that, but Empire completely undercuts New Hope's happy ending in exactly the same way he's accusing TFA of doing to RotJ. Hell, Empire does it more egregiously by those standards, because not only do our heroes have to fight the same battle again, they pretty much lose.
Oh, definitely, but I think there are bigger factors that contribute to that sick feeling than what the article's author talks about. I think that's much more easily ascribed to the frequency of release and, as you said, the percentage of overall market share films of this ilk take up; it's not due to some sort of…
There's another side to this same argument, though; if you like the ending of Iron Man 3, you're welcome to not watch any subsequent movies and let that be the end of the story as you are aware of it. It's not like these movies all end on cliffhangers the way old serials used to; they almost all have narrative closure.
